Thanks, I'll persevere with g p. I know it's not shingles, having had that four times. I'm almost certain it's nerve pain. I had trigeminal neuralgia a few years ago, similar but not the same.

It is probably a type of neuropathy, which is nerve pain. Sadly it can start for no rhyme or reason . There are 100 different types of neuropathy and your doctor should send you to a neurologist if it doesn't clear up.

I thought shingles as well. When I had it I had it on my face. There are 3 main nerves in your head and you could plainly see the line of the inflamed nerve from my forehead across my cheek to my chin. DIL who is a dentist thought it was 'fascinating'. It is painful. But treatment must be given early.

I was going to say shingles. I would go back to GP.
If it is shingles there is a tablet they can give to help reduce pain but it has to be given at start of the rash
I have had shingles and I was told it follows nerve path down the body.
So it you have it on your right side of head & face and your right hand then it may possible buti f on left side of your face and hand then I think it is unlikely.
Worth a second opinion.

It sounds like a nerve pain of some kind Shingles usually has a redness to it doesn't it?

Did your GP not consider this could be shingles?
Hope it's not....

Hi, any advice please? Not having much support from GP. I have very sharp pins and stabbing needles on my face, sometimes scalp, sometimes right hand. I tried anti histamine iin case allergy but no use. It's driving me mad! I know it's not life threatening, but it's horrible.
