Tramadol is morhpine related and highly addictive. I had it for 3 days after knee replacement and I had no side effects- but wouldn't want to take it long term. Hope you find a suitable replacement for pain control.

They weren't compatible with me that's for sure. Simply unable to function at any helpful level. Slow release ibuprofen and paracetamol seem to be the strongest I can tolerate and usually do a reasonable job, brings pain down to a level I can manage.

same as annodomini the only painkillers that work for me are paracetemol alternated with ibuprofen. Zopiclone for sleeping. All these for post op knee replacement and for shoulder reconstruction. Morphine useless, codeine etc make me feel dreadful. I think everyone reacts differently.

Yes Tramodol had an adverse effect on me as well. Did not persevere as I was concerned about addiction.

Codeine and Tramadol make me ill and have the same effect on my DS. Morphine made me sick after my hip replacement so I don't think I'm at any risk of addiction to opiates.

I had them for back pain a few years ago ... apparently the next step up from Co-codamol 30/500 which make me sick?

Anyway, Tramadol did nothing much for the pain and spaced me out to boot. Didn't like the feeling at all so only took 2 and still have the rest in my medicine box. Can't remember any sleep problems.

They are high dose Codein and I got on well with them for a slipped disc but felt nauseaus in the mornings and could not eat any breakfast.

I prefer the pain to the horrible feeling I had when on strong painkillers (Oxycontin then Tramadol). I can't quite describe it but I really hated it. I don't see how anyone could get addicted to feeling like that!

My GP gave me Tramadol for Sciatic/Arthritis pain, one was enough, I was ill for two days and never took another. I slept for 15hrs was sick and drowsy for two days. Sorry that's not much help to you.

Hi can any one who is on tramadol tell me how they get on with them. I've been taking them a couple of month now for nerve pain in my feet which I have from having sciatica two years ago. I found them good for the pain but I am not sleeping well as they give me terrible nightmares and sweats. I was previously on pre gaberpentin and they gave me nightmares as well.
