Don`t worry about diet yet. When you get the appointment for the colonoscopy you will be given instructions about what you can and can`t eat for a couple of days before the procedure. As others have said, the actual colonoscopy isn`t bad - and it`s a very good way of losing a few pounds!

Clematisa I had it done for the same reason as yourself. The bowel prep is the worst and I would suggest that you buy whatever is used now for babies because my rear end was on fire.

I was offered sedation but I declined and did not need it. I felt the odd bit of discomfort and even had a couple of polyps removed at the same time as they can become cancerous. I had a cup of coffee afterwards and in my friend;'s car within 45 minutes.

I was tired afterwards but glad that it was over. It took I think at least 2 days for my bot to return to normal, that really was the worst part of it- sorry if it is too much information! My result came back negative.

Not "read on" ... reason!

I've had a colonoscopy as part of investigations for a stabbing pain in my side.

It's really not a big deal (or I didn't find it to be), I didn't do anything other than take the prep stuff beforehand as directed (stay near a loo).

I was given a drug that meant I didn't remember a thing about the procedure. It wasn't sore or uncomfortable and I went to work the day after (although my boss sent me home, shocked that I had turned up!) I think I went home and slept off the after effects of the drugs.

All was fine with me BTW. Eventually the mysterious pain disappeared, just as well because they couldn't find a read on for it.

My son had it. He said the actual procedure was fine. A little uncomfortable but pain free. He said the worst part was taking the enema stuff beforehand. Good luck Clemetisa

My sister-in-law has had an op for bowel cancer and will now need chemo... I decided to do my poo check as I'd never had it done before... Mine has come back positive so I am to go for a colonoscopy... Anyone had this and if so any suggestions?
As it's coming up to Christmas I'm not sure how long I'll have to wait for mine. But trying to work out best diet ideas if there are any?
