Being a lens wearer myself, I was interested, and more than a little alarmed, by this article, showing how easy it is to damage your eyes irreparably just by not drying your hands thoroughly before inserting a lens.

I've been using contact lenses for 47 years, and it was only at my last annual check up that my optician told me how important it is to avoid water spray, and that it can be dangerous to shower while wearing them.

Gosh - not heard that before - I don't wear them but DS does. I did know that there were over 20 varieties of conjunctivitis though! He got one years ago when he was a student and needed to go to the consultant and have swabs taken etc. I think that now he wears his specs for work and lenses when he goes out.

Actually you would think that fact sheets would be easily available in lens places and eye clinics wouldn't you. Thank you for passing that info one - will tell him.

I wear contact lenses so does my daughter and step daughter. I shall certainly warn them about this. I have been swimming in mine occasionally, never again!!
