When he was 11, our son, now 36 married and father of 2, suffered full depth burns on his entire right leg. After many months of painful skin grafts (including one from me after which I had a DVT!) he resumed a normal life. He has always been very active and sporty, and didn't let his injuries get in the way of anything he wanted to do. Lately though, he has been getting a pain in that leg, which he thinks is circulatory, rather than muscular. He did once have phlebitis in the leg, and so could see where his vein runs (his nerve endings were destroyed mostly, and veins and arteries pretty much found new ways round the injuries). He has the pain where he believes this vein to be. I want him to see a specialist...but which one? He has spoken to NHS Direct, who gave him some advice, though I don't know what it was. I don't want to nag him (his wife might do that) but I am worried about him. We always have thought that he might have some problem or other as he gets older, but imagined these might be to do with his knee or ankle joints, where skin grafting was the most problematic. Does anyone have any advice, or knowledge?
