Thanks everyone. I got the briefest of replies when I emailed him last week to see what he had done. I can't do more at the moment.....except worry, which helps no-one!

Yes Would think G.P. first port of call. There must be a lot more options open now re treatment than when he had the burn. Medicine has really moved on. Good luck

Back to the hospital which treated him via GP for referral to consultant?

I think he needs to see his GP to be assessed.

Thank you Riverwalk. He has a very responsible job, and is reluctant to take time out, but I think you are right

I'm guessing that the obvious choices would be a Plastic or Vascular surgeon, but his GP will know.

I hope he gets it sorted.

I have no personal experience but an old school friend's now-adult son has problems with his extensive skin graft and he saw a Plastic surgeon.

When he was 11, our son, now 36 married and father of 2, suffered full depth burns on his entire right leg. After many months of painful skin grafts (including one from me after which I had a DVT!) he resumed a normal life. He has always been very active and sporty, and didn't let his injuries get in the way of anything he wanted to do. Lately though, he has been getting a pain in that leg, which he thinks is circulatory, rather than muscular. He did once have phlebitis in the leg, and so could see where his vein runs (his nerve endings were destroyed mostly, and veins and arteries pretty much found new ways round the injuries). He has the pain where he believes this vein to be. I want him to see a specialist...but which one? He has spoken to NHS Direct, who gave him some advice, though I don't know what it was. I don't want to nag him (his wife might do that) but I am worried about him. We always have thought that he might have some problem or other as he gets older, but imagined these might be to do with his knee or ankle joints, where skin grafting was the most problematic. Does anyone have any advice, or knowledge?
