I do not know, but if you find out, let me know! My OH now weighs under 7.5 stone! I feed him pies, stodgy puddings, chocolate etc - all to no avail. He also has a powder from the doc which I add to his cereals etc.

do you eat cheese ? my sister was the same and over a holiday she was given different fancy cheeses and , hating waste , she nibbled her way through it all and her next blood test showed her b12 was ok , seems cheese is a source .Complan might just fill you up and stop you eating proper food , I am sure you know all the pulses are a source of protein which might help

Thanks aggie..yes I do eat cheese.lots of pulses too.

If only - if only ! I am a fat vegetarian ( yes believe it or not you can get them ) Before you go down the Complan avenue please look at the packet and see how much sugar it contains, remember just under 4g of sugar is a teaspoon of sugar. Obviously you want to gain weight but hopefully in a healthy manner. You are probably just one of those ( infuriating ) people that don't gain even though you eat quite well ? I'd also hazzard a guess your probably someone who is always on the go all day so you burn it off. So sit down, have a cappuccino and eat a couple of Flapjacks !! ( Seriously Google healthy weight gain )

Are you quite tall because size 10 doesn't usually mean you are skeletal? I'm 5ft 5 and a size 6 but am definitely not skeletal confused

Start a food diary....be honest about what you eat.
Just like us at the other end of the scale (who eat more than they think ...perhaps!)....I think you can kid yourself you are eating more than you think.

Perhaps.....and this may sound counterintuitive.....some muscle building exercises might help to smooth you out a bit.

My Mum never seemed to put on weight....but then she never really sat still for five minutes....I think some people are just on the go all the time and need to learn to sit and see the daisies as it were....meditation perhaps?

Fortisip drinks, I was given these post op to keep me going until I could eat properly again. I put quite a lot of weight on.

The GP can refer you to a dietician for advice and if you need supplements they can suggest what would help and give you a prescription to get them from the chemist

I remember my Mum always giving us a horrible "tonic" every spring , she thought we were all too thin , pity she can't see me now lol Some people swear by a capsule , can't think ok the name , starts with a B I think , vitamins or something

I had the same problem - 5ft 7 and for an unknown reason went from 9st 3 to 8 stone. I have got it back up to 8st 6 but have stayed at that for a few years, can't get any more on. I started by just adding a bit to each meal - an extra piece of toast or an extra scoop of porridge oats, a two egg omelette instead of one, a little more pasta or rice than normal. Try and add an extra 200 calories a day. I also treated myself to two squares of nice dark choc every day as I don't usually eat any sweets.

Please buy the swimming costume - swimming is great for building up muscles. (Complan, in my view, is disgusting stuff)

OMG if i ate that much each day i would be the size of a house. It is so strange that some can eat a wonderful diet like farview and not gain weight and others have to eat really small ammounts of food otherwise they do.

Its about time scientists worked out why this happens.Just think of the money saved for the NHS with no obesity related illnesses to dealwith.

farview really hope you manage to solve your problem keep us posted.smile

Have my sympathy, with my Gastroparesis I struggle to maintain 7.1/2 stone. I love food but feeling not mutual. On bad days have prescribed protein shakes xflowers
