Twisted my knee

midgey thanks for reply, i have some gel from the chemist, but i have used voltarol before, not sure about not using it with certain tablets, but will look it up,
My knee felt much better this afternoon,and not as bad walking on it
The twist was more to the side ,and below my knee rather than kneecap
I hope it doesnt take too long to heal, poor dog needs a walk

You shouldn’t use voltarol with certain tablets. In April I hurt my knee, didn’t hurt much when I did it but the following day I couldn’t walk on it. It’s still not 100% yet, but I didn’t do the RICE advice. The best thing for mine was the cooling gel.

This tube doesnt feel too tight, but i did mean to ask at the chemist about one for knees,i will ask
Tegan what is a Patella strap,i will ask about that too,
I like voltarol myself, but never thought about it, when i was offered the ibuprofen one

I always carry a patellar (sp) strap with me after twisting my knee years ago. Stops the sideways movement. My rub of choice is always voltarol!

Be careful with the elastic tube - if it was for your son's wrist it may be too tight for your knee. That wouldn't be good. I hope it's not too long before you are up and running again.

Greyduster thank you, i have got some Ibuprofen gel and taking painkillers, ,also found an elastic tube kind of thing, which i think was for my sons wrist at one time, so heres hopjng its much better tomorrow
Chemist said give it a few days and if no better go to Drs
Doing the rice thing
I know ligaments take a long time to heal so hoping its feels worse than it is

I had one last year - I put my foot in a hole while we were out walking, twisted, and ruptured the ligaments in my knee. The advice I got at the hospital was RICE for twenty four hours, then move about a little and often. It took about six weeks to get mine right. Ice is very good, and an elastic bandage was useful support, but not too tight.

vampire queen thank you, never thought of painkilling gel, going to hobble up to the chemist soon and get some advice,and will see what painkilling gel they suggest

Been taking Ibuprofen and paracetamol

I've got a twisted knee atm and the painkilling gels help. Rest but also move regularly or it will seize up.

Lol, well have managed to vacuum all upstairs .and polished,just having a snack and coffee,then going to shampoo the bedroom carpet,
Not much of a sitter really,unless i am on gransnet or some other site
Hobbling a bit, but poor dog wants to go out, but not today i am afraid, luckily i have a large enclosed garden, but she still likes me with her,

I'm sure it'll be ok to move around a bit, Valerie. Try and rest often though. I always do when I've lots to get through, and I haven't even got a twisted knee!

I have found once i have have been sat down its worse

Rest, ice, compression, elevation. Had to write it like that to remember it, Valerie. According to current first aid training, those are the recommendations.
