I was supposed to be having day surgery on my foot last Tuesday. This was my second surgery as I had my other foot done last year. As I was to be virtually non weight bearing for 8 weeks, this involved a great deal of house, mind and body preparation. It would be a long and difficult recovery.
After a sleepless night, I was sat in on my hospital bed at the crack of dawn, with arrows drawn on my foot, when they gave me my first ever ECG - I am on blood pressure medication. Apparently I should have had one last time. This showed a number of abnormal readings and the operation was cancelled. I have since seen my GP and have an urgent referral to a cardiologist. The GP was fairly reassuring as I have no symptoms. He did however give me a second ECG which was similar to the first.
The wait for an appointment could be very long and I am rather scared - not sleeping and somehow need to hold it together and cope! The recovery from my last surgery and the build up to the next one have been very stressful and I am running out of reserves. OH keeps telling me not to worry - would that it was that easy!
Any advice much appreciated.

Hi ania123 - that does sound rather scary, but better they check out any abnormal readings before they perform surgery on you.

I'm sorry I don't have any advice because I don't have experience of what you write about, hopefully someone will have soon.

In the meanwhile, it sounds as if you are in good hands. And all I can offer, is to say try not to worry, it won't hange anything but it will contribute to anxiety - my SIL quotes Erma Bombeck Worry is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere!

Maybe your OH and the GP are right in that you have nothing really to worry about, they are just being extra careful.

"hange"?! should be "change" ...

Thank you. Wish someone would invent a pill to help stop worrying! They would be millionaires.
