In the meanwhile, it sounds as if you are in good hands. And all I can offer, is to say try not to worry, it won't hange anything but it will contribute to anxiety - my SIL quotes Erma Bombeck Worry is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere!
Maybe your OH and the GP are right in that you have nothing really to worry about, they are just being extra careful.
