Think I would fall over, I have to sit on the edge of the bed to put my knicks and trousers on.

We could do our pelvic floor exercises at same time!

I started standing on one leg for balance after I had a bad fall but only do 30 seconds! I stand at the window sill and look out of the window and count. I am impressed by Mary59nana who can do it with her eyes closed. I can manage 2 secs at most with eyes closed. I think that is significant but I can't remember what about!

When standing on one leg do remember to hold stomach muscles in. Pilates teacher says it helps maintain balance.

I have a wobbly ankle which I've sprained 6 times (!) already. Someone recommended this slightly easier exercise - you stand with your feet comfortably apart and - pendulum-like - shift your weight from one foot to the next, no need to hang onto anything. I do it when I remember, so thanks PamelaJ1 for reminding me...

I'm not great at balancing and generally have a wobble in the morning when I do my 25 or so minutes of yoga which I get up via a tutorial on line. I've done yoga on and off for the last few years but I enjoy doing it this way and it's just enough to set me up for the day before I've eaten anything otherwise I get acid reflux, particularly with "downward dog" but yes balancing on one leg isn't easy.

I done it with my eyes closed and it’s a kind of meditation
I’m going to do it again later
Here goes for my new keep fit routine

Very cheaty? How about little bit cheaty?

Just realised 90 seconds is one and half minutes - I failed O'level maths . Will start with five seconds and work up to 90, ever the optimist ?

The best exercise is putting your purse away it has saved me from no end of injuries.

Eglantine21 Wed 15-Nov-17 10:02:07

Cheaty not chesty. Too quick!

Eglantine21 Wed 15-Nov-17 10:01:42

Very chesty Annie. Nil points. smile

I think i'll give it a go. I have an ankle which suddenly 'turns' when I'm walking. It might help.

Anniebach Wed 15-Nov-17 09:51:22

I did five seconds but is holding onto the kitchen sink cheating?

Eglantine21 Wed 15-Nov-17 09:47:25

Just tried it. Wobbled, flung out arm to steady myself, knocked tooth mug, toothpaste, floss and my glasses (which were on the shelf) into the toilet.
Think I'll try again in the middle of the living room.....

Just read the article again- best injury prevention, it improves balance, leg a d ankle strength. It was part of an article on injuries that can occur whilst exercising.
Oh dear it says it should be done 3-4 times per day. My teeth will be very clean.

PamelaJ1 Wed 15-Nov-17 09:27:21

It just says “the best” so I’m assuming that’s all I have to do!!

Anniebach Wed 15-Nov-17 08:51:56

My balance is not good recently , I will try it. Thank you Auntieflo

Auntieflo Wed 15-Nov-17 08:47:43

I think it's to do with balance Annie.

Anniebach Wed 15-Nov-17 08:36:08

Best exercise for what Pamela?

PamelaJ1 Wed 15-Nov-17 08:28:26

According to my newspaper yesterday the very best excercise we can do is to stand on one leg foe 90secs.
I had heard this before so I do it when I’m cleaning my teeth.
The electric toothbrush is a great timer.
Anyone else out there having a wobble in the morning and a wobble in the evening?
