Fennel I had no dent with my first replacement 12 yrs ago that's why I was puzzled but it's definitely fat necrosis according to my surgeon .

I would think you're bound to get a dent there, I certainly have one.
And a little pad of fat just above it.
My op. was 11 years ago, I think the procedure has changed since, maybe with less tissue damage.

I have dent too - and lots of pain. I am happy with the dent, but not the pain!

Thanks for responding ladies it's not sounding promising then. My surgeon was quite surprised when he examined me yesterday as it's pretty noticeable but said it sometimes happens. Nelliemoser yours sounds like the same thing. I did take a look online and it's possible to have a plastic surgery to infill the dent with my own fat but I won't be going there grin I'll just have to live with I guess. I had lost some weight since my surgery and I'm guessing that has added to the problem but hey ho! swings and roundabouts.

I have it tanith in the breast I had cancer in.
It didn't seem obvious at first but my remaining tissue started shrinking and carried on for some time.
I started with a size 0 prosthetic and am now on a size 3/4.
I was told the fat cells were "burning" away.
I don't think anything can be done. About 6 years ago I was asked if I would take part in a research project to investigate , I had samples of tissue taken off my buttocks!!! and lots of phials of blood taken.

I am not sure if this is the same thing but where I had a camera inserted in my shoulder so the surgeon could see the torn tedons to repair them I have quite a big dent. four yeats on.

I'd never heard of this condition but apparently my hip-replacement has caused me to develop a pronounced dent where my surgery scar is. Just wondering if anyone else has had this and if anything can be done. My surgeon said that it will probably be something I'll have to live with it which is ok but if I could do something to improve it I'd like to give it a go.
