I also have a hammer toe. Desperate to find smart low heel shoes I can wear but no luck so far.

Born with them. DF had them too. DH calls my feet monkey feet as I can hold a pencil and write with them (I’m right footed). I’ve no solution except to wear flat roomy shoes. Smart fashion shoes are impossible. I gave up on them many, many years ago and just paint my toenails really bright colours and brazen it out with hippy sandals.

Now I also have a bunion on my left foot which makes buying a pair of matching shoes while not having matching feet rather difficult. Luckily I’m a denim and casual top type person so it’s boots in winter and sandals in summer. I do have a couple of pairs of smart shoes with small heels gathering dust at the back of the cupboard. But they’re definitely sitting down shoes. Can’t walk in them!

Just found these wonderful smart flat very soft leather shoes in M&S - choice of colours: Red; cream; mauve; green. Pity they don't do navy but they really are fantastic shoes and worth a look. £35.00. Bought some for a wedding I'm going to in the summer - now I just have to find the outfit!!

I had one middle toe which grew under the one next to it - it was always uncomfortable and eventually became quite painful so I have it straightened - well worth the pain! It's not perfect but much better now.

I read somewhere that people are developing 'hammer toes' from wearing soft ballet pumps as they have to grip with their toes to keep them on and this eventually can cause a problem.

had not 'have' - I had it done years ago.

I’m another born with them. Flipping nuisance. My parents were told that surgery was possible to straighten the toes but only if I couldn’t walk. Well, I could so no surgery. I’ve had a lot of pain over the years. A younger friend had hers straightened and they look great, no nasty lumps, comfortable feet and shoe choices so much easier. I truly detest my feet. sad.

I may have had the hammer toe straightened but the rest of my feet leaves much to be desired.
