Varifocal lenses

I have worn varifocal lenses for at least 10 years and have never had a problem. I have been trying to get new glasses for the last 5 months one optician had 6 attempts and the latest one has had 2 remakes. It is the height of the reading that is not correct. It is blurred which can be resolved by me raising the frame slightly. Why can they not get the height correct? I don’t think it is anything to do with the quality of the lens. Has anyone got any ideas?

Oh dear - I too have worn varifocals for a very long time and had no problems, except it is difficult to get the bit for music reading right. I think you just have to stick with it till they get them right.

I have found that the deeper the frame the more satisfactory the result.

What are the frames like? Last year I chose some lovely frames but the lens had to be thinned to fit them. Three returns because of the same problem as you, until one assistant in the shop said that some people cannot get on with thinned lenses.
I chose a different frame, the lenses in those were not thinned and they were perfect.
Just a thought.

Could it be that you need bigger frames? When I bought my last pair the optician rejected my first choice because they were too small to be effective.

That happened to me too Nonnie. It could be that you need larger frames. Keep nagging! Opticians have all sorts of gadgetry now that should be able to ensure you get what you need in the right place
