What a nasty shock but how lucky he pointed it out. It has made you act quickly and that will minimise the area that has to be excised (if that’s the route your dermatologist takes).
I hadn’t realised how fond I was of my nose till I thought I may lose half of it! You can hardly see my scar so I hope all will go as well for you.

Just phoned my GP and got the first appointment for the day after we get home. Oddly enough BCC's run in my in-laws family, but not in mine. My father-in-law and his dad have had several of them and been successfully treated. If my dermatologist friend is correct and my red nose does turn out to be a BCC I suspect it will need surgery, but my lovely man just told me he'll love me even if I have no nose, so that's alright then!

grannyactivist, worrying, but just wanted to let you know OH who is outdoors a lot has had three BCC patches removed from his forehead and nose in the last fifteen years. He isn't a sun bather either.

Hope you can enjoy the rest of your holiday. You'd have gone home and ignored the redness probably so hope you can find a silver lining in this cloud. Enjoy the warmth of your Greek island. We have the central heating on in Blighty.

Please don't let it spoil what sounds like a very lovely holiday. As others have said: if you are going to have a cancer, then this is the one to have!

It was my optician who spotted my first BCC. It was on the side of my nose where my glasses rest and I just thought the glasses were rubbing. He had a good look at it and told me to see my GP "sooner rather than later" which put the fear of God into me.

It turned out to be a BCC. My doctor said if you're going to get cancer this is the best cancer to get because it's treatable, it doesn't metastasise to other organs of the body and it won't kill you!

I've had several more since but they have all been removed and the scars are very hard to see. I've never been a sunlover either but I am fair-skinned and spend quite a lot of time outdoors gardening and dog walking.

So don't worry about it and enjoy the rest of your holiday.

If your doc. thinks it’s bcc, then you should get a very rapid appointment with a dermatologist. The up side is that bcc is the least aggressive skin cancer to have, as you’re well aware, I’m sure.
I’ve recently had a patch on my cheekbone, and instead of going in with the knife, the consultant decided to give me chemo. cream to use at home, which has, I think, done the business!

Oh dear, ga, not what you wanted to hear. I know you’ll get yourself checked out as soon as you can, (can you make the appointment now so you have it as soon as you get back?). Easy for me to say I know but I hope the holiday distractions will help just a bit. Sending a hug.

granny well what a shock as you say but I like you would be grateful for the advice. There is nothing you can do till you get home (apart from possibly phoning your GP surgery now and explain the situation and see if they can start the ball rolling for when you get home) so I hope you can enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Goodness, not quite what you'd expect on your holiday but at least hopefully it's been caught early.

Fwiw, my sister had melanoma nearly 30 years ago. She never sunbathes, it was just one of those unfortunate things. Thankfully she made a full recovery from it.

Even if you don’t sunbathe ( I don’t either) your nose can easily catch the sun, especially if you are fair skinned.

Sorry to hear that GrannyAbut what serendipity that he was there at this time and prepared to give you a warning.
Yes, it will have spoiled your holiday really but may well have saved this health problem from getting worse.
No doubt you will be straight to your GP in a week’s time.
