Grandma70s,
I empathis and sympathise: Whilst I was in hospital they tried a range of things to bulk me up, some being pure fat of some sorts, I threw up with that one, but all were so unpleasant I had none of them.
Some months after I left and was home an umarked box arrived ( it was from the hospital nutrionist it turned out) with fortified yoghurts and yoghurt drinks in, I tried these and they were fine! have had them every day since for breakfast and sometimes snacks. They are both 300 calories and I am sure they have helped.
Ask if you can try them they are Nutricia yoghurt and yoghurt style drink, various flavours.

BlueBelle,
Yes, I twigged!

I have the same problem, though I’m not as underweight as you have been. They try to make me drink Ensure milkshake drinks, which are absolutely disgustingly sweet and make me feel sick.

At one point if I stood sideways and stuck my tongue out I looked like a zip.

Firstly, pedant alert: Dietician or Dietitian? Actually both are correct, usage of either depends on personal preference or what your employer/tutor dictates.

With that out of the way, I will explain.
I see the above by hospital appointment regularly but with varying times between appointments, more often when she is more concerned less often when we are both happy with progress. She has been a great help over the last few years and my most recent visit was today and when she noted my weight increase said that if I continued to gain weight she would discharge me.
This is really good news, I have been trying to put on weight since 2012 when I was hospitalised in a dreadful state and my weight had by then dropped to 6 stone 2.
I have been on fortified drinks and yoghurts and eating high fat high calorie food ever since, ( and fruit and veg of course) and just this summer hit 7 stone.
Today I weigh 7 stone 5, and was declared back into the acceptable BMI zone, but only just.
Seeing her again in 3 months and fingers crossed, I will be discharged.
