EMDR worked well for a friend with phobias and another with PTSD so fingers crossed for you Anniebach. Also know of someone who uses EFT with good results.

Update

I was to start with the therapist 18th January . Was feeling very sorry for myself yesterday , family all gone to Cornwall for the weekend and I so wanted to go with them , walk by the sea.

Chap from MIND called yesterday and I said how I ached to get out again, he phoned this morning and my EMDR therapy has been brought forward to next Friday .

So in time when i post on the Good Morning thread I will be able to say ‘ I am going and doing such and such today’ ? , positive thinking

You’re getting there Annie. ?

Anniebach Mon 12-Nov-18 18:54:55

Thank you all x I do respect your advice and need it.
,
I mailed him and said as he had not contacted me on Friday as promised I accept the therapist couldn’t accept me so I would find a therapist and I thanked him for trying . He replied saying she would treat me and would forward dates she is available, so I will have to wait until Thursday to know when it can start but at least I know it can.

Brilliant about the EMDR Annie. Hope you can find a good solution with the exercises too. Walking a little with something to support you around the house regularly every day will definitely help I would think. You are not a moaner keep posting we all want to help

Luckygirl Mon 12-Nov-18 16:37:38

Google "seated exercises" - there are lots about and you just sit in front of your laptop or PC and do them. It takes a while to build up muscle, but when you do it also builds up confidence as you feel less wobbly on your feet.

You can get very cheap chairs from ebay if you do not have a suitable dining/kitchen chair to use.

Glad the EMDR is going ahead - good luck with that.

That's good news Annie smile.

I have been accepted for EMDR by the therapist.

Oh me of little faith

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 22:25:08

Whizz around, I like the thought of that ?, thank you for the link

Polly48 Sun 11-Nov-18 22:12:07

Oh, good that yours will have a seat - you can whizz round with it, then sit down on it and do some leg stretches smile.

Thank you cornergran I will look

cornergran Sun 11-Nov-18 22:05:34

annie because of my various ailments a physio suggested I look up leg/knee exercises that can be carried out on a bed. I think he was testing my motivation! I discovered quite a few on the web. They have helped my dodgy knee and stability by strengthening the muscles above the knee. Might be worth a look? I’m sorry, I can’t manage links with the iPad, don’t seem to have the knack. Good luck. Keep on with it, I know you’ll get there.

Polly, mine has four wheels , brakes , a tray and a seat, hope it isn’t too big to get around the bungalow, I already have Fred parked in the little hall until I can buy him a shed,

Thank you posting that walker, I told my son in law who isn’t I was having one and he said ‘do you mean a Zimmer frame, lucky for him this was on the telephone ?

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 21:54:48

Bellanonna, have this wretched badly swollen knee ( god I moan), so walking is less painful, I did get a bycle thingy to sit on the sofa and pedal, ouch . I keep asking for help here and feel guilty but only have my youngest granddaughter and her visit once a week is for chat , laughter and hearing what she has planned for the following week, she is my sunshine but regrettably I am the forums moaning Minnie.
I had put hope into the EMDR treatment, but yes , onward and upward , 1921 Cardiff University to see my younger granddaughter awarded her degree .
