I’m glad you are feeling more positive Dragonfly and that your consultant is happier. This must give you peace of mind, enough to enjoy Christmas. My tumour was also fed by oestrogen and although I am well past the menopause apparently the body does still produce it but in smaller amounts. I have been on the tablets since the end of September and as there was a delay to my surgery because I had to be referred to a haematologist about my low, platelet count it was comforting to know that the growth was slowed down by the tablets. I had my lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy Yesterday at day surgery. I had never had surgery before and was quite apprehensive but the staff were absolutely wonderful to me, I can’t praise them enough - the nurses on the day ward, the specialist cancer nurse, the surgeon and the anaesthetist were all fantastic. I am a little sore today but making good progress. The down side is that I won’t receive the results of my biopsy for three weeks because of the Christmas holidays. I am trying to put this to the back of my mind and focus on recovering from the surgery and enjoying Christmas with my husband and family.
EllanVannin you are so right in what you say about our NHS. Our hospital trust is in special measures and this must affect morale but the all staff I have met over the past few months as an outpatient and an inpatient have been outstanding.
