I had a biopsy last week and I had an appointment this afternoon to get the result but I have just had a call to say they are not ready. I have to wait another week. Is this a bad sign does anybody know?

I’m glad you are feeling more positive Dragonfly and that your consultant is happier. This must give you peace of mind, enough to enjoy Christmas. My tumour was also fed by oestrogen and although I am well past the menopause apparently the body does still produce it but in smaller amounts. I have been on the tablets since the end of September and as there was a delay to my surgery because I had to be referred to a haematologist about my low, platelet count it was comforting to know that the growth was slowed down by the tablets. I had my lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy Yesterday at day surgery. I had never had surgery before and was quite apprehensive but the staff were absolutely wonderful to me, I can’t praise them enough - the nurses on the day ward, the specialist cancer nurse, the surgeon and the anaesthetist were all fantastic. I am a little sore today but making good progress. The down side is that I won’t receive the results of my biopsy for three weeks because of the Christmas holidays. I am trying to put this to the back of my mind and focus on recovering from the surgery and enjoying Christmas with my husband and family.

EllanVannin you are so right in what you say about our NHS. Our hospital trust is in special measures and this must affect morale but the all staff I have met over the past few months as an outpatient and an inpatient have been outstanding.

Keep this positivity as it will help the body heal. So good to hear that " all is not lost " thanks to our NHS who've helped save the lives of thousands of people.
I hope everything goes according to plan for you. x

Good. You will have a treatment plan, so its onwards with a more positive viewpoint. I just hope you are able to relax a little now. flowers

Pleased to hear your very good news. Have a lovely Xmas.

ffinnochio Thu 13-Dec-18 11:40:49

Very good news indeed!

Jane10 Thu 13-Dec-18 11:34:49

Glad to hear this positive news. None of it is ideal but there's a good way ahead and you've got a good doctor by the sound of it. Have a happy Christmas!

Just seen the specialist. The CT scan showed that the cancer has not spread which is good. They have found a second suspect area in same breast so need a biopsy next week but as I am on medication to shrink the tumour I am not seeing her again until 15th January.

What I have is fed by oestrogen so I am on tablets to eliminate all oestrogen in my body. It will take a few months but in the meantime it is not growing. I will have to have an op to take the breast off but probably not until next summer.

She was very positive and much happier than when I saw her last.

Looking forward to Christmas at DS's in Brighton now unless anything untoward happens after biopsy next week but feeling much more positive. They are so clever these days.

Good wishes to all making this difficult ride - it is often the waiting that is the worst thing. My thoughts are with you all.

Jane43 and Kateycrunch I wish you both well. Katey I hope the lumpectomy goes well - I get my results that day.

Jane43 Tue 04-Dec-18 15:39:57

I’m thinking of you too dragonfly and I am on the roller coaster ride too Kateycrunch. I have my lumpectomy on Thursday of next week having been on the roller coaster since September 2nd. I had two biopsies because the first was inconclusive (was told the day before the result was due) then a delay in having the second biopsy because the first caused a lot of bruising. Then the dreaded result and after being offered the lumpectomy the following week having to wait to see a haematologist because my platelet count is low. I send my very best wishes to all of you on the roller coaster ride.
