By 3 pm on Christmas Day it was obvious that DH was not very well. He ate very little and slept a lot. This morning he actually admitted he thought he had bronchitis and was experiencing pain when he coughed. He is diabetic and also has angina, both well controlled. So I rang 111, and after some questions we were told a doctor would ring back. He did within a few minutes, and made an appointment at a surgery a few miles away but easy to drive to and park at.
My husband was seen by a locum GP who checked him over, agreed it was bronchitis, gave advice and prescribed antibiotics. We then drove to a pharmacy, then home, all done in a two hour window.
All praise to the NHS for this service on Boxing Day.
