Would you consider donating an organ, say a kidney, to someone who was in your family but not a blood relative? Obviously there are risks involved in all operations but the benefits to the donor are huge. I was wondering what thoughts people had around this issue?

I probably wouldn't, no.
Maybe if I loved the person as much as my grandsons or daughter, but that is highly unlikely.

I would rather be a living donor than a dead one ... just don't like the idea of being cut up!
Not sure whether I would do it for a stranger but definitely would for family.

I would do it for someone I loved. Jasper Carrott's wife donated a kidney to their daughter many years ago and they both lead happy and fulfilling lives now. I think it would be very satisfying to know I had saved someone's life.
