Could this be GORD?

Are my symptoms GORD or what? I'm worrying myself sick and googling and thinking the worst. I've got an appointment for an endoscopy this Saturday coming.

I've had digestion problems for years and I usually manage it myself by avoiding certain foods etc but it's been getting worse. I'm full of wind, bloating and gurgles and I get acid indigestion and I've IBS too. If I eat a largish meal I find it really hard to swallow it as if my oesophagus has closed up. So I avoid going out for meals etc without taking gaviscon.

I've tried to deal with it myself by looking for triggers. it but it seems to have flared up recently, especially since after Xmas when I've had a bad cough/cold virus for about 5 weeks. Could it be connected?

Does anyone have similar symptoms?

So glad the worrying's over.

I would love to lose some weight, but I'm hopeless at it.

Been taking my Omeprazole for a some years now. Haven't noticed anything bad happening. Mine's pretty good at the moment, now I'm back on a fairly plain everyday diet.

Good luck, and don't worry if you join us in the ranks of the permanent omeprazole takers. Stuff's a Godsend.

Thank you for all the support and common sense advice you gave me, it really helped me with all my fears about the worst case scenario and kept me grounded

Update: it’s a week since I had the endoscopy and I’ve been on 40mg of Omeprazole daily. I can honestly say I haven’t had one episode of not being able to swallow my food and my other symptoms have lessened a lot.
It shocked me as I’ve always considered myself to be fairly healthy and don’t go the doctors much at all. I was trying to ignore all the worsening digestive problems and thinking I’d be able to sort them out myself once the work on building our extension was finished.

In all my googling of the past few weeks I’ve ive read about all sorts of diets eating plans and programme til I’ve got to the point of working out a plan that suit me
One thing that learnt that I hadn’t known and it’s worth people being aware of this is that fasting diets can lead to problems with acid reflux and GORD because when you’re fasting your stomach acids have got nothing to work on. I’ve tried IF 16:8 but fortunately fasting gives me headaches. But I’ve often tried to wait til I’m hungry and to miss meals
So, that’s me - feeling like I’m getting there - although I’m nervous and being very careful and I’m a work in progress x
