I'm not sure what virus you're talking about, as I haven't actually got one or know of anyone that has one at the moment.

I think you should have it checked out by a doctor. They will likely be able to prescribe medicine for you, and possibly foods that can help?

Four weeks is a long time to have a virus. I think viruses usually last around two weeks but I could be wrong

Quite a lot of us had it in February/March. Usually accompanied by a cough. The washed out feeling lasts a long time. I have been as right as rain all week. Woke up this morning and I have been wrapped up and feeling rotten all day.

Oh, I think there a different one.

I had one with diarrhoea and severe aches and pains and then being wiped out for 10 days or so. No cough! Ds has it now. Dh avoided it!

I haven't heard of anything doing its rounds but what I am reading in my local rag is that there have been swarms of disease-carrying ladybirds dropping from people's ceilings into their food.
They're foreign invaders called Harlequin ladybirds and have black wings. In the Woolton area of Liverpool there have been invasions of them.
Apparently they smell as well. I don't know about using a glass and card for removal, a blowtorch springs to mind hahaha.
They spread STI's to other " good " ladybirds.

I will be glad to find out, I am fed up with it!

The one around that I had, and lots of others I know, started with cough, progressed to sinus congestion and continued on and off for a month or more. I ended up going to doctor - regular GP was so busy I was told to go to “out of hours” service.

M0nica Sun 07-Apr-19 21:23:37

Framor that's the one we had. I have yet to go to GP but I am beginning to consider it.

M0nica- I was prescribed amoxicillin which cleared it, though took a while. Then I got an “ordinary” cold, but finally I seem to be clear of infection until I catch something from grandchildren?

PS - I know that antibiotics don’t kill viruses, but respiratory tract infection that has lasted weeks is probably bacterial.

DH and I have had a cough, cold and then sinus infections, me for 4 weeks now and him for 3.5 weeks. Seems very common in this part of the world. Really hoping another week might see it off!

Hi, I had the cough and throat virus two weeks ago, the main symptoms lasted a week, but I'm still very tired and keep keeping a sore feeling in my gland .Unfortunately my appetite is fine smile

Yes, I've had this since early February as well. I've felt so poorly that my DH has considered cancelling our 2 week holiday, due to start next week. Because I have health problems anyway, I get follow-up appointments with various specialists (appointments tend to come in batches). 3 Weeks ago, I was told that it was most likely to be a virus and I would just have to give it time. Last week, a different specialist wrote me a prescription for antibiotics. It took just 3 days to start feeling better!

I have the same virus as Millyhilly.
It started 2 weeks ago and I've been told that it can last 4-6 weeks.
I've had to cancel several things and am really fed up sitting at home feeling completely washed out.
I think I'll just have to be patient and ride it out - things could be so much worse.
