Have now ordered the D Mannose tablets and some sage tablets and just hope this helps and I can get back to normal with my physical problems and my marriage. I have heard that the jury is still out on the Cranberry juice and not proven really to be of any true benefit as Bordersgirl57 seems to think. Thank you for your advice on the Bladder Health UK and the specialist physiotherapist. It has helped doing a blog and know ladies are wanting to help. Thanks.

Anytime l infrequently have a vaginal itch l hold a warm shower on it until it abates. And it does and it has. Also l try and use mind over matter.

Take a look at this interesting article from the Guardian I think December 2018 mrsgreenfingers UTI test often fails to detect infection say researchers. Am so sorry can't do links on iPad.

A friend had had exactly the same problem.....her last urine sample was clear but she still had frequency and pain in her kidneys and bladder. She has now been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. She has been told to avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, spicy foods, citrus fruits etc. Her symptoms have now improved without medication. She had also been prescribed oestrogen cream which didn't help. She found lots of info online.

I used to have cystitis all too frequently. Eventually, I put two and two together and realised that it was worse after I'd been drinking gin and tonic. I didn't blame the tonic and since then, having been gin-less for at least 30 years, I have had far fewer attacks of cystitis.

Thanks everyone for their feedback. Certainly will give the sage tablets and D Mannose a try, anything is worth it.

Cranberry juice has been disproven as an aid , it is full of sugar

Is it an overactive bladder? I suffered for several years with it (it's not so much of a problem now), and I was weeing 40-50 times a day!! I needed to wee all day (and night) long, and had awful bladder pain. My test results were always clear. I was on Tolteradine tablets, but there are others.

The cranberry juice idea might work for some people, but plain water is best - 4 pints a day, if you can.

You have described exactly what I went through for many months. I did often have a UTI and took antibiotics but frequently tests were negative.
I now use D Mannose. I buy from 5 greens via eBay. I have been fine for months and normal activity has resumed?.

Condoms and KY gel may help. Could try occasional vagifem pessaries - hormonal but low dose and work locally. Risk regarding breast cancer very low indeed. Hope things improve

My sister is having similar problems. She saw a new young lady GP who told her it was probably a menopausal symptom. Uncommon, but not unheard of. I'm afraid, if it's to do with the menopause, there is no easy solution.

Is your doctor certain that it's cystitis? I had symptoms that seemed like that but it was actually vaginal atrophy. The doctor gave me tablets (can't remember what but they might have involved hormones). I didn't want to continue them but read that sage tablets are good for that problem. I got them from a well-known health food shop and they seemed to help.

Drink lots of cranberry juice.....make that your go-to drink.

Always wipe from back to front.
It's the other way round, so that you're not introducing faecal bacteria into your urethra.

How about your H using protection to see if that works ?

Know this is a medical problem really but any help or advice would be so much appreciated. After intimacy with my husband I am having cystitis type problems again and again. I go to the Drs. and take a water sample and always showing the same being no infection. Then sample sent to hospital for further testing and again no infection. I am having stinging, urgent need for a loo, uncomfortable feelings down below and generally it's miserable. We both have a daily shower, I pass water after sex and wash with cold bottled water. Always wipe from back to front. It isn't as if we are doing this constantly and not rough in any way but and still have this problem. The Dr. gave me antibiotics just in case and advised use of a vaginal lubricant and said HRT would be the answer but as had breast cancer out of the question. This has now gone on since March and my life is around the loo, hard when you go out and mix socially. It's so miserable and really getting me down and of course we are on a sex ban now which isn't good for a marriage. Any help or info or advice please. Maybe I need to go back again to the Drs and ask for further tests. Thanks.
