Yes Bopeep14 I have the same question. Must have been the bite I think as I have a small blood blister there where I think I thoughtlessly scratched it!

Friend's husband was told that the bacteria, from ?elsewhere? enter a small wound.
He had had a scratch on his leg and went swimming in a lake.

DS got cellulitis in his ankle just before his A Levels, following a bee sting. He ended up in hospital overnight on intravenous antibiotics and did his first exams with his leg up on a chair!

Snap, i went on a canal boat trip on Saturday, and ended up with cellulitis on my knee, i am on 1000 mg of antibiotics four times a day.
The only thing that helped me is an ice pack or cold cloth.
Mine has gone down considerably.
The only thing i don't understand is did the insect bite which i didn't feel give me cellulitis or was it my own body?

Thank you all for your kind advice. It does seem to have faded a bit this morning.

Keep your leg raised as much as possible to help the swelling and put an ice pack or cloth soaked in cold water and wrung out.
Personally I find if the infection is bad to be diagnosed as cellulitis it no longer itches but burns so getting the heat out helps. (I usually get cellulitis from insect bites).

Glenfinnan please watch the cellulitis like a hawk because it is group A streptococcus and is nasty. If it appears to be spreading, please go to your doctor or A&E.

My friend's husband had a bad dose of cellulitis in his leg.
He found ice packs very soothing for the itch and inflammation.

Lavender gel is very good. Keep it in the fridge and it's always nice and cool.

It was recommended to me by another gransnetter but I can't remember who.

Thank you Ninathenana I'll try your suggestions

If the skin is not broken try E45 anti itch cream. Not cheap but it works.

Went to a picnic on Saturday. Thought I'd been bitten and leaned down and scratched my leg. Now medical centre says its cellulitis and I'm on anti biotics. Any suggestions to drop the itch please
