My Godson/Newphew is to have this operation this weekend, he was rushed to hospital Saturday. He is 48.

I have never heard of Quintuple bypass, too fearful to google.

Anyone have knowledge of this please ?

Hi Annie - it involves all five of the major blood vessels, as opposed to e.g. a triple bypass which would involve three of the major blood vessels.

Outcomes for a quintuple bypass are good.

Try not to worry. Modern medicine is truly miraculous.

Yes Annie my husbands brother had this op last year. He was 74 then and made a wonderful recovery, he did all the required physio afterward built up slowly and is now back to playing bowls and enjoying life.
Your Godson is very young to need this operation but that is in his favour for recovery. Try not to worry as the surgeons these days perform these operations every day but to us they are miracles.
We will all be thinking of you and your Godson.

Thank you so much. I thought ‘quin ,that’s five’, my sister was so distressed she meant quad’. But she didn’t and I couldn’t bother her with questions .

It was a shock, my sister was told he had a heart defect from birth. Baffling, non smoker, loves sport, and yet had a heart defect .

My sister had a triple last year.

I must be positive, thank you so much x
