Better now older - anyone else?

Agree I feel better physically as I used to be very stressed because of my job but lately I've felt low mainly because of all the sad stories I've heard about people our age. So many people I used to know have already left us when just in their 50s/60s/70s.

Well I agree about the hysterectomy - I always say it was the best day's sleep I ever had!! I had a lifetime of very heavy and very painful and long periods and it was like being let out of prison. I would bleed for 2 weeks out of four, and often had to get up and change a soaked bed in spite of two pads and two tampons! What a bloody nuisance it all was.

As to the rest I have acquired some buggerations associated with old age which have reduced my strength and mobility; but I am delighted to hear you have got on top of your ME - there are several Gransnetters who suffer from this and I am sure they will be picking your brains soon!

sandelf that's so good to hear. Did you do anything specific in regard to the ME? I've had it for a long time, too.

My father died from bowel cancer at 47y and I’ve been given regular colonoscopy screening all my adult life.

I had a hysterectomy due to being a carrier of a mutated BRCA1 gene. But it was the best thing I've ever done! No more horrifically painful periods. No more PMT and mood swings.

I also don't give a damn what other people think of me anymore. Love or hate, it's up to you. So much less stressful, not worrying about the opinions of others.
