My 'stuff' is mostly 2nd hand, apart from my bed and a couch which were both new.
I long ago had to get rid of heirloom furniture; things my parents bought for their Silver Wedding, items left by my great-aunt and great-grandparents; pretty much everything of any commercial and sentimental value.
I gave away the majority of my precious, precious books; kept just a few my sons bought me over the years but I can't read them of course.
I own no jewelry (I even had to sell my wedding ring) and even my PC is over a decade old (my son built it).
I choose to have a very minimalist lifestyle and if I don't use something for 6 months, I give it away.
And that, should I have enough warning, is what I shall do if I need to go into extra care. I'll ring the Hospice Shop and let them take everything my son doesn't want.

Gonegirl, I've threatened to do that many a time.
