I have it and it's absolutely horrible. It affects my sleep and just about every aspect of my life.
I've been diabetic for years, but neuropathy came on quite quickly. My blood glucose is reasonably well controlled and doctors don't seem to know what to do.
All I can suggest is looking after your legs and feet well to make sure you don't get dry skin, slow healing cuts, etc.
If you're taking metformin or a proton pump inhibitor, such omeprazole, ask for a test for anaemia, which can bring on neuropathy. The problem is Vitamin B12 absorption, but plasma test don't always show up problems with absorption. You can have enough Vit B12 in your blood, but it's not being used properly.
You should also insist on effective pain killers if neuropathy is affecting your quality of life.
