Following recommendations I have bought both Autumn Daffodils Charlie's story and Johannes story. Perfect for my holiday to Malta next week.

Hope the cold is gone soon. I have been reading the Deep Water series recently on TV and they are good but slightly different story line.

Achilles is a wonderful book. Gave me hours of enjoyment! Problem is, when you finish something wonderful, there's this big void … what on earth can I read next that is good as that one?

The cold cold sea - couldn't put it down. Also, Am I guilty? Another page turner with a thrilling end.

The woman in cabin ten by Ruth Ware. Mystery book couldn't put it down, just had to read to the end.

Not sure if these are on Kindle - but recommend Madeline Miller's 'Achilles' (Orange Prize for Fiction 2012) and 'Circe' (shortlisted for Women's Prize for Fiction 2018). If you like legends and believable characters these are well worth your time.

If you like good readable non-fiction then anything by Liza Picard. She's still going and in her nineties. She's a retired lawyer (so good at research) but writes vividly and without assuming you have reams of historical knowledge. There's Johnson's London, Chaucer's People and several more besides.

"Need to Know" by Karen Cleveland - gripping -couldn't put it down. Feel lost now I've finished it!

In my book group we all loved A Geentleman in Moscow by Amor `Towles. And another vote for The Goldfinch here.

When you're over your lurgy, I recommend reading "The Infection Game" by Dr Sarah Myhill. Following the advice in that book I haven't had a cold, flu, stomach bug, or anything-else for over 2 years. Hope you feel well soon x

The Keeper of Lost Things and The Music Shop are two easy to read feel-good books perfect for a duvet day.

Ooh yes. Kate Atkinson is a wonderful writer too. My favourite of hers us 'A God in Ruins'. (No idea what the title means!) However, it's a literary tour de force. She needn't have written another word after that but, luckily, she did!

I have a cold too, and am reading Transcription by Kate Atkinson, in my view the best female writer in the UK ( although Pat Barker is a close contender.)Nothing nicer than being in a comfy chair with a good book.

The Crossing Places by Elly Griffiths - first book in the Ruth Galloway series. They are great books with archaeological and police mysteries,thrillers.
