Hi, I’ve posted on here about my GORD before. In February this year I was diagnosed with GORD, acid reflux and an oesophageal ulcer and inflammation. I’m struggling a bit and I’m wondering how others manage this and what you eat and don’t eat. Also, how do you lose weight with these symptoms?
I was on 40mg of osmaprazole to start with, and was really careful about what I ate and when I went back for a follow up endoscopy the consultant said the ulcer and inflammation had cleared up. My GP stopped the omeprazole- too quickly, as I ended up a few weeks later with the symptoms returning. I went to another gp in the practice who gave me a months supply of omeprazole - 20 mg per day. Again when I finished the pills the symptoms came back and I saw another gp who I like, and she read all my notes and said that because I’m prone to ulceration and inflammation I should stay on a daily 20 mg dose for the foreseeable future. Sorry for the essay but I’m trying to explain this saga of trying to find what’s right for me.
So I’m now feeling much better and more relaxed around food, and I start to some of my forbidden foods like cakes and pies and chips - all my usual triggers - as I thought to myself the pills are doing their work and stopping me getting acid reflux etc. Its no surprise that I’m not feeling so well now as I was, so this week, I’ve stopped eating all the rubbish.
Do I carry on being careful and watching what I eat for the rest of my life - is this how you manage, or what?
I could do with losing about 2 stone as well as I’m sure it would help with my symptoms but I don’t know what to do or how to do it - I thought about the new fast 800 diet but I don’t think I should do fasts with GORD and I don’t fancy clubs etc
Any suggestions advice support is very welcome as I feel stuck and there’s not much advice out there.

. I find not eating for at least 4 hours before lying down helps the reflux, as does having a number of small meals rather than 3 larger meals per day. Also, if you are looking for something sweet, sugar free jelly and with a spoonful of natural greek yoghurt works well for me. Good luck, I hope you find something that helps you achieve your goal
