I have both but prefer underwired most of the time.
I bought one "total support" bra from M&S but as I'm in an E cup, I feel that it squashes more than supports, but in hot weather, as it is cotton lined , it can be very comfortable.
I'd suggest that you try a non wired one - several of the supermarkets also sell them - but you might need to go up a cup size to fit more comfortably - it all depends on why you want to change.

I always wear underwired padded bras to give me a defined shape. I dislike the uniboob look.

I never even notice whether my bra is underwired or not, although I know I have both.

After an inspection and feel, I now know today's choice of bra is underwired. The reason I do not notice may be that I take quite a small size, 32B.

After a breast operation, 18 months ago, I wore only soft cotton bras that were comfy.
Then I had a bad fall 4 months ago, and cracked my ribs, so it was too uncomfortable to wear any bras at all.
While at the hospital I read in a magazine about soft front fastening bras, and decided to send for 3 to try.

They have been a success and I haven't worn my other bras since.

The fact is that any bra which holds up sagging boobs, whether it is underwired or not, is going to be uncomfortable. Mine seem to have grown after the menopause, from a 38B to a 38DD. I was fitted in a specialist shop for a bra, which is not underwired but so tight around the chest, it digs in. Looks wonderful under fancy, going out clothes, I take off and go bra-less at home.

After my breast cancer surgery, I wore those stretchy, pull over your head bras. Very comfy. But because I was big boobed before, to me, I didn't look like me. So now, I'm back in the plunge, padded, push-up underwires. I look like me, to myself in the mirror.

I need the underwired bras to hold me up as a have been blessed with big boobs. Ive tried the bras without the underwired bit but they dont hold me up and "fold" underneath
So unflattering
But yes more comfy
I look a dress size smaller when wearing a good underwired bra
