I am well aware how busy they are but I had an appointment Wednesday last week which was cancelled as the doctor was self isolating. I was given a telephone appointment instead with another doctor.
No phone call. Thursday I had outpatient appointment at hospital which is not connected to current problem. I spent all day Friday trying to get through to GP, line was permanently engaged, as it is this morning.
I need an urgent referral to a specialist. What the heck do I do ?

Our GP has a facility on the website for 'writing' to them and a reply is promised within 24 (or maybe 48hrs) - I haven't tried it.
We are all in the same boat Nina but I do sympathise.
Re your outpatient appointment - most non-urgent OPD appts are being cancelled but they contact you. The lines are getting clogged up both ways.

It struck me that it might be quicker to actually post them a letter!

fourormore sorry I didn't make myself clear my outpatient appointment went ahead last week.

My OH is recovering from hip replacement and has follow up appt and X-ray next week.

I think we will cancel but I feel very sorry for those needing urgent referral, diagnosis and treatment. I do hope they continue to get some priority of care.

Sorry Nina I read it wrong as well - thought that you were trying to ring your GP about the OPD appt - Doh!
Take care and hope you can get things sorted soon. flowers

I thought GPs would be less busy, suspected CV patients are not seen at a GP surgery and most appointments are by phone.

Try the CCG for your area nina, number will be on line, they need to know your surgery isn’t accessible to patients and I would hope be able to help. If that doesn’t work then email or write. It occurs to me there could simply be a fault with their phone system. You sound more than worried, I hope it’s sorted soon.

rosenoir I thought the same.
I e-mailed them an hour ago, we will see.

A lot of GP’s are being called back to do hospital work,so I don’t think they are less busy at all
