ebikes are excellent for helping people get back to being fit and also, later, to go further. My bil has made several e bikes out of normal cycles, he buys the kit, he was an engineer. I keep getting e mails suggesting I upgrade to a new e bike, from the place I bought my kalkhoff proconnect from, not sold new any more, my bike is pedelec ie it gives me a `push` when it senses that I struggle. All I am doing for now is keeping it in good condition ie keeping the tyres pumped up and re-charging the batteries from time to time. The range on my old batteries is still 30-40 miles each. There is no way I am changing my kalkhoff, it is a dream of a bike.
A good ebike has different battery settings, depending on how much you want to physically work. 1 is light help and 3 is powerful help, they also have gears and can glide up very steep hills but you do have to keep pedelling, they are not like mopeds
My new road bike is going to be special, especially designed for seniors and I got a very small frame as I am < 4`11. It still has 700 wheels. I have had 2 folding bikes with small wheels, they are far too twitchy for me so have gone to family
