(1001 Posts)Well we have reached another 1000 posts so time for another thread. Welcome.
Thanks for the positive responses.
Today's musings, not looking for sympathy just want to explain how I got where I am.
I have had far more than my share of loss, grief, medical problems and so on than most people would ever have. Far more than anyone I know. It has made me stronger overall.
I have been on medication for depression for about 15 years and even spent a period in hospital.
I have learned that when overcoming what one thinks is the worst possible thing to happen another comes and puts the previous one on the back burner. Having overcome the latest, and seen justice happen, I feel so much lighter in myself. Still taking the meds, still not sleeping well but generally coping with life much better. I have not only started being more positive and doing more but also, the biggy for me, allowing myself to do nothing without feeling I should be busy.
I have found some light at the end of my tunnel.
Hope for all.
Lavender I share your frustration! DH had a knee x-ray about a week ago. Doc phoned to say he needed a replacement knee and in the meantime an injection would help but the surgery is closed. He recommended DH goes for a walk to the shops. Hmm he can go out and get infected but he can't go to the doc in case he infects them. If the surgery cannot prevent infections, how can the shops? DH is coping so not vital.
annie dealing with the public sector can be very difficult but when they do talk to each other to sort things out for a disabled person I think it is time to bring in your local councillor.
Thank you Annie xx and Doodle. My walk was good and the cobwebs/mood were gone
.
Goodness Annie your path, what a pain these people are (I am on the border into Yorkshire and the same happens here). Hope you can get it sorted out.
Thats a tricky one a north west facing balcony for plants for your grand daughter. Lovely though that she gives you the problem to solve
- don't you just love them!
Hope everyone is alright. Have a peaceful evening, take care, and stay safe. Much love to all xx
annie I wish you could enjoy sausage and chips too. Your liquid meal replacement doesn’t sound particularly appetising. Does it taste of anything?
Sorry your iPad is misbehaving. Annoying that neither party will take responsibility for repairing your path . Has it been resolved yet?
lavender hope you enjoyed your walk despite a wasted morning of phone calls. Things should be getting better from now on we hope. Take care.
Tried to post a positive .
My iPad playing up.
Council and Heart of Wales battling ,as usual,, who should pay
for my front path to be repaired, been on the telephone over it
for two days.
Younger granddaughter wants plants for her balcony, it’s
North/West facing !!!!
Just had phone call, ‘this is Fridays Fish and Chips would you
like to place your order ?’
Said ‘sorry you have the wrong number’, so wanted to say
Sausages and Chips please’ ?
My positive - will have my liquid meal replacement now, don’t
have to prepare a meal, just take the top off, pour into a glass
and drink
“Lavender* you didn’t moan, so frustrating for you and they did state the b. obvious, no one knows when things will be back to normal but we need some structure .
Enjoy you walk in the sunshine x
Hello everyone
Nonnie your cheerful posts these days are a tonic do not think for one minute that they are anything else. We all need to read positives.
The sun is shining and I will have a walk later. That is my positive although today I feel fed up with the NHS. I had a call booked yesterday in respect of my steriod injections in my knees - never came! Today I attempted, yet again, to speak to the Rheumatology Dept regarding the scan due end February, that I am waiting for, couldn't get past all the waffle about Covid to speak to anyone to get any sense at all. When I ring the drs, when I can get passed all the waffle yet again, I am told by some gormless individual (sorry! thats how I feel) that they "don't know when things will be back to normal". Just hopeless, what are they waiting for, some "start up" directive from this government. We can't go on like this for ever.
Sorry that is my moan for today.
Time for my walk and to feel that sunshine.
Stay safe, love to all xx
nonnie one thing we all need is hope. Without hope we would all sink into despair.
annie has put it so well as usual.?
We know you have been through bad times and having you write better news now gives hope to those who are going through bad times that the sun will shine again. Apart from that it is nice for us to have positives as annie says.
Hope everyone is ok today x
Hi all x
nonnie positive is good, we all need positives , I know you
have been through such a dark time ,parts of forum is in a dark place , the news too,
Batty started Black Dog for those with depression, anxiety etc
to share , support, understand, things have changed since the
virus - I have agoraphobia which is a fear of open spaces, an irrational fear . Comes under the mental health umbrella.
now there are many who have the same emotions but not from irrational fears .
I can’t speak of positives re overcoming my phobia because
I can’t do a damn thing to move forward, I want to but am blocked because of practical reasons .
Do keep posting your positives my love x
For you ?
Honest answers please? You all know I've been through a very rough time but now I'm doing much better. I have been posting quite positive things for the last couple of weeks but does that make others feel worse? I won't continue if I am hurting anyone. I want to help not hurt. Thanks
nonnie sounds as though you had a good day with your family yesterday. How lovely to have a good catch up.
Hope everyone is ok. Sleep well all. ?
I went out yesterday!! We went to DS & Dil and sat in the garden social distancing. DiL gave me a tour of the garden and showed me all the lovely veg she is growing, DS has done wonders with the lawn which was very badly damaged last year. They cooked us a lovely meal which we ate outside and then they told us about all the freelance projects they are doing while on furlough. The rest of the family joined us on video call. I wore proper 'going out' clothes!
Today the sun is shining and I'm going to put the last coat of stain on the last piece of garden furniture. I am very blessed.
I pray that you all have something to be grateful for today but, if you haven't, I pray that you find a way to cope.
annie what a thoughtful thing of your granddaughter’s partner to do. How lovely to face time with her while she opened her presents. Did she get her cross stitch?
I bet it meant a lot for her to be able to share it with you. Even though her mum was not able to be there in person, I bet she was present in all your minds,
Hope today was ok. X
Oh Annie so many mixed emotions. Sending love xx
And to you too Nonnie xx
Yes, Annie I get that too. Gave DH an old Fathers' Day card from DS today as I'm sure he is looking down on his Dad. So many mixed emotions.
Hi all x
Sorry couldn’t join you yesterday, my granddaughter’s partner
sent me a video of her walking into the living room in the
morning and her surprise that it was decorated with birthday
greetings. Then she FaceTimed me so I could join in her opening her presents. I found it both joyous and upsetting,
I so wished my darling daughter was there for the 21st of her
baby.
This brought memories throughout the day and this brought grief .
Will get back soon
Hugs x
Morning all.
nanny well done on doing your course and passing with a high score. Congratulations. You must be pleased. Hope you can find somewhere where you can put the skill to helping others.
joce how are you getting on. Any more quilting?
nonnie your littleDGS is really doing well. Nice to hear. Enjoy your time with the family.
rafichagran are you keeping ok? Hope so.
lavender glad to hear your daughter is feeling better. Medication of the right kind can help a lot.
flutterby sorry to hear this has not been a good week for you. Family concerns always get to us don’t they.
I have heard of burning mouth syndrome. Never had it myself but understand it is horrible. Not surprised you are anxious not to have it again.
The shoes are fine thank you. Good I don’t have to send them back as I’m not sure how I would cope with that in lockdown.
You don’t go on. It’s good to hear from you. Hope things improve for you and your family troubles are resolved.
carillion how kind of you to come on here and wish us well.
I hope you and yours are well. Take care.
annie did you see your granddaughter on Friday? Was it her the cross stitch was for ?
Hope everyone has a calm and untroubled day today.
Good afternoon dear friends,
I have had a few iPad problems in the last couple of weeks but they seem to be solved now so I send my thoughts, prayers and good wishes to you, as always, please continue to know you are not alone.
Flutter sorry you have had a bad week, never heard of that syndrome but it sounds horrible. Hope it doesn't come back
Updates on the SiL and nurse would be good, been praying.
Later we are going to DS & DiL for Fathers' Day in their garden. I had to make a card for DH as we haven't been out. I am not a bit artistic!
Hi friends my week has not been great as I have had some family tension and have been worrying (not all the time) about so many things - health, family, friends, you name it I have been worrying about it. A couple of years ago I had burning mouth syndrome which was awful felt like my mouth was on fire. It lasted about 4/5months. Well I had a couple of days last week when I thought it was coming back so I think that put me on edge and the worrying started. So fingers x it’s a touch of hay fever.
ANNIE how did the visit from your grandaughter go? Emotional time for you.
NONNIE big well done to your little grandson.
LAVENDER glad your daughter is more settled. It’s such a worry.
DOODLE how are the new shoes?
JOYCE how is the young nurse doing.
LAVENDER you are so right about being overwhelmed by things especially at this time
EILYANN yes it has been a difficult few months for many. I will remember your son in law in my night time prayers.
NANNY well done on your BSL skills. Fantastic. Be proud of yourself.
I wonder how Why is getting on.
Sorry if I have gone on too much but you are such special people and I want to thank you for thinking of me. I think of you all every night in my prayers.
Night night and God Bless all.
Sorry if I have forgotten anyone xx
Hello everyone, hope you are all ok.
Annie hope you are ok and your grand daughter's visit wasn't too wet. Did you give her the cross stitch you did for her?
Well done Nanny, something to celebrate.
Nonnie how proud you must be of your little grandson, he is doing brilliantly and he wanted to share with you - so lovely.
rafichagran how are you doing, hope you are ok, I know you struggle.
Wishing everyone, Doodle - my daughter is more settled now, thank you, her medication has been altered which is helpful. Joyce, Flutterby and everyone take care, stay safe and have a peaceful evening. Love to all, god bless xx
Hello Everyone. Lavender I hope things get better for you soon.
Annie I agree with you, your SIL should get on with his life, but I also understand how his daughters feel. It is hard all round.
Nanny How lovely that your Grandson did so well.
Best wishes to everyone in here, and keep well.
Well done nanny that’s brilliant...
Nonnie I know that feeling sooo much ....
Have a good day all x
Well done Nanny. You now have a purpose which some of us don't, I'm sure it will do you good.
Please forgive a little grandma boast, it is a positive I would like to share. Little GS had his first school report yesterday and video called to show me. His school lists various areas of class work and gives 1- 3 smiley faces to show the achievement. He got 3 for every category. I just wish I could be there to give him a hug.
