I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my right knee. Does anyone know of any problems with this surgery?

Not personally but several friends have. The first few weeks after seem to be hard work but after that they wish they had had it done much earlier!

What surgery? I possess 2 TKRs! No.1 was fine. No problems whatsoever. No.2 was preceded by knee arthroscopy, which IMO was a waste of time, and money. He could have done the TKR straightaway, which also turned out fine.
I guess you've already reached the pain threshold, which is the determining factor as to whether you go for a TKR or not!
No problems with the surgery; had to stop taking Warfarin for 4 days prior; no problems with that either!
Just the usual ones associated with hospital stays; go in with one thing and come out with another; usually cellulitis! grin
Good Health and Good Luck
Btw there's a parallel thread running on TKRs

My OH had both knees replaced at the same time 8 years ago. The operation was in the afternoon. Around midnight he went missing. The nurses found him taking a shower!
It is a routine operation, extremely successful as long as you do the exercises. Sit around and you might as well not have had it done.
The first few weeks after the op. can be trying. Use the pain killers and ice packs and keep in mind the benefits to come.
Best wishes.

Are you having surgery? Many of us manage with osteo arthritis in knees for years before surgery is needed. I'm at least 10 years on....

Newnham I found one of the old TKR threads but for some strange reason I could not transfer it from Last Day to here but there is more info on that.
