Hello , a new thread, welcome all x

I have been off line since this morning , and land line down !

Doodle Thu 24-Sept-20 20:37:30

Chrissy so sorry you are going through a bad patch.
Has something happened to trigger this or are you just feeling unwell. Try and head off to bed and see how you get on. Hopefully, things will look better in the morning.
Sleep well x

Doodle Thu 24-Sept-20 20:34:16

Chrissy that’s the trouble with online shopping, we don’t get to pick and choose. Sometimes things are out of date the day after they are delivered. However, I’m just pleased I don’t have to go into the stores.
joce glad you are still doing your quilting. It’s nice to have a hobby to distract you sometimes.
Nonnie that sounds nice to dress up a bit. I must admit I am more of a comfort dresser. I do change if we go out though.
Bluesky good to hear you had a better night last night. Wish we could find the magic answer to a good nights sleep. ?
Annie I’m ok thanks. Housework day today, then a long walk. Tired tonight. How about you?
Nanabird really sorry to hear you have Parkinson’s. Despite the fact that you were expecting it, it must have come as a shock to have it confirmed and to have to tell your family.
Grannysomerset may well have the right idea about contacting local support groups. It helps to talk things through with others going through the same thing.
Hope you manage to find another buyer soon.

ChrissyR Thu 24-Sept-20 20:30:33

Hi everyone
I’ve had a terrible day, feeling ‘off’ physically and mentally. Cried buckets. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Sorry I can’t reply personally to posts.
Take care everyone and sleep well x

GrannySomerset Thu 24-Sept-20 17:54:28

nanabird not me but DH, diagnosed seven years ago. They will tell you that everyone’s Parkinson’s is different and it’s true so your experience will be specific to you. If you have a local Parkinson’s group they are very helpful in normal times, but at present it is a case of managing for oneself. We have a local Parkinson’s nurse who is available by email and has proved helpful to us.

Good luck. It is a devastating diagnosis and takes a while to get used to it. But you may be pretty well for years, and I hope you are. If there are things you want to do and places you want to visit, do it soon!

nanabird Thu 24-Sept-20 17:40:57

Hello everyone, within the last six weeks I've been diagnosed with Parkinson's. I wasn't really surprised I had suspected it for about six months. I tried to warn my husband but he seems completely bound up with the sale of our smallholding. We've been let down by our buyers after 6 months of mucking us about! I've packed up most of the farm house single handed which is ok. He's got stuff outside to sort out. Telling my daughters was very upsetting but I'm trying to be upbeat about it and not to be down as it affects everyone. Some days I'm ok other days I feel very sad. I'm so grateful to my Consultant he w as great and I was on meds within days of seeing him. Has anyone else had a similar experience? How do you cope?

BlueSky Thu 24-Sept-20 12:37:49

Morning all well afternoon. I slept well I often don’t and I can’t really pinpoint why. I used to think it was my high BP but now has been brought under control, perhaps still my underlying anxiety, a lot of anxiety dreams too that unsettle me.
Lucyanne You, like many others on here, have been through such a lot health wise and I realise how lucky I have been so far. Fantastic when people can still be positive like yourself.
Have a good day x cafe

Nonnie Thu 24-Sept-20 11:30:55

lucyanne glad you are home, you do have a lot to cope with.

Hope you are all coping today, in a bit of a rush so will just add that I have decided to dress 'properly' every day I am not doing something messy. I have had enough of scruffy tracksuit bottoms and old sweaters so am now wearing things I would be happy to be seen out in. Only DH will see but I feel better doing it.

Anniebach Thu 24-Sept-20 10:11:20

Hi all x

How is everyone ?

Joce345 Wed 23-Sept-20 21:42:27

Doodle I’m still trying on and of with new project in quilting definitely getting better so grateful for your help.x

Rain all day hear but got to keep plodding on...

Hope everyone has a peaceful night sleep, good night all...

ChrissyR Wed 23-Sept-20 20:22:33

Doodle You posted at exactly the same time as me smile
We are doing supermarket shops every week, hubby not happy with online deliveries ‘They give all the rubbish to the people who order online’ wink I’ve been out for a few meals with my cousin but that was when the number of cases had dropped considerably. Sleep well x

ChrissyR Wed 23-Sept-20 20:15:01

Evening everyone.
Weather not been good all day, a lot of rain and much cooler. Definitely Autumn.
Scaredycat That’s lovely that your walk yesterday was so special after not having done it for so long. I’m not an arty person at all but I was going to a Mind drop-in every week and doing some colouring and rock painting. Of course it hasn’t been open since March and I miss meeting up with other people.
lucyanne Glad you’re out of hospital and feeling better. You’ve certainly been through a lot and still sound so positive.
lavenderzen That’s not good making you all queue in the car park for your flu jabs. I wondered how it was going to work at our surgery. It was really well thought out, straight in, jab then a different way out.

I am getting more concerned about the virus, the number of new cases in the last 24 hours is frightening. I know there’s nothing we can do about it but look after ourselves as best we can. Take care everyone and sleep well x

Doodle Wed 23-Sept-20 20:11:27

Bluesky how have you been today. Hope you sleep well too ?

Doodle Wed 23-Sept-20 20:10:47

Evening all.
Annie when will your DGD get her little lab puppy? I bet she can’t wait,
Busy day doing housework for me. Been raining much of the day,
Chrissy I think there are many of us who use our own council on keeping safe during the virus. We are still having online shopping and haven’t been near any shops since February. We have had the odd meal out and will proceed
with caution.
Scaredycat your walk sounds nice. So you are into art, I envy you. No talent here but I am enjoying my painting by numbers. My paintbrush but someone else’s design and colours, works for me ?
Lucyanne did you get out much before COVID? Talking to the wall won’t get you far, come in here and talk to us. ?
Glad you are home from hospital ok. What a dreadful time you’ve had since your back operation. You’ve been through so much. Do the comas frighten you or are you totally unaware until you wake up. I do hope you are well taken care of.
What do you do when you go to bed at night, do you have TV in your room or read?
I love doing my crafts too. I think crafting can only be done in a messy environment ?. When I’m quilting I end up with bits of fabric and thread all over the place. No point in cleaning up at the moment.
Lavender hope your arm is ok tonight after your flu jab. We are having ours at the weekend.
Sleep well all x

BlueSky Wed 23-Sept-20 19:58:36

Good night all x brew

lavenderzen Wed 23-Sept-20 19:18:19

Hello everyone
Annie hope you are ok - I know you are worried about your lovely granddaughter, thoughts and prayers for you both. By the way expecting you to travel is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, good grief where do these so called experts get their ideas from!
Your boat trip sounds wonderful Doodle, just what you need.
Do take care everyone and stay safe. This situation is like an ongoing dream/nightmare that never seems to end. We have just to accept and keep plodding on, we cannot do anything else.
Had my flu jab today at the drs in the carpark. Pouring down with rain in the social distanced queue! Anyway done now.
Hope everyone has a peaceful evening and sleeps well. Take care, stay safe, love to all xx

lucyanne Wed 23-Sept-20 18:32:58

Thank you all for the good wishes. I am home from hospital. Feeling better now that I can now swallow solids.
Doodle Good for you getting out and enjoying nature. When I got back home I saw my crafting room with new eyes what a tip. As I always have a project on the go seems pointless packing it all away.
Puzzel Yes I have about 6-8 comas a year. Started after a back op 20yrs ago, which left me paraplegic and in a coma for 2mths. Since then not allowed any anaesthesia local or general. Had strokes, AFib, palatal myoclonus and MS. The medics panic when I wake up with stroke like symptoms. I was told I would not live until 40yrs made it to 60yrs now aiming for70yrs. Every day is a bonus.
Jan Our NHS are doing all online or tel. consultations for CBS. Friends going through it find it positive but say they often need a friend for support if it brings up painful memories. Good luck.
Nonnie your posts are positive please don’t leave. We all need a smile. Great to hear you are doing well.
Careers usually up at 6.45 am but they do put me to bed at 8.30pm!
Bluesky I think we are all finding Covid added pressure not knowing the future. Just pray we will all keep safe.
Joyce I am so pleased to hear you found your diamond. A good jeweler will reset it well.
Scardeycat Your life class sounds interesting and I agree it does relax the mind when crafting. I have struggle getting the proportions correct painting live models. They always end up with huge bums.
Chrissy well said what a wise hubby you have.
To all I have forgotten enjoy your evening and sleep well. x

lucyanne Wed 23-Sept-20 18:18:53

Hello Annie how are you my love? It is hard living alone. I don't have dogs but talk to the wall when feeling down. It is disgraceful expecting you to travel with agoraphobia. Are you still reading your book? A positive quote would do us all good if you feel up to it.
Constantly in my prayers. x

Scaredycat Wed 23-Sept-20 16:00:38

Good afternoon
Doodle your boat trip sounds lovely- and afternoon tea what a treat - my favourite meal out!! I agree it would have been dodgy on the sea - you,d have been ok yesterday though as the sea was like a mill pond. Hope you did sleep well after that.
Chrissie our walk was lovely. I haven’t done a proper coastal path walk since I was poorly 3 yrs ago so it was special.
Annie your mini tornado has had such a rough start to her UNI years she deserves better. I hope she stays safe and is able to visit you soon.
Nonnie what a good day you had. We are so lucky to be able to get out and walk it us such good therapy.
I agree with you Chrissy Nonnies way of thinking precautions instead of restrictions is much more positive. Let’s hope people will be more sensible.
We have had a bit of rain today it seems ages since we had any. I do a Life Class on Wed mornings so since Lockdown some of us do it via WhatsApp. It’s a really good way to stay together . Not the same as a live model but we really enjoy it. While you are doing any kind of Art it makes you forget troubles for a while.
Hope you all have a nice evening - take carexxxx

Anniebach Wed 23-Sept-20 11:50:04

Well said Chrissy x

ChrissyR Wed 23-Sept-20 11:39:36

Morning everyone.
Annie I’m so sorry about what happened to your daughter. I can’t imagine how awful that must have been and I’m sure still is. I can understand how worried you must be about your mini tornado. I do hope that you get to see her soon.
Nonnie Sounds like you had a good day yesterday. I know what you mean about recent events with COVID getting to you. I still keep thinking about the possibility of things staying like this for the next 6 months. Precautions rather than restrictions sounds like positive thinking which I think we all need at the moment.
BlueSky My hubby was shielding for ages like a lot of other people. Even he is saying now that we are probably going to have to get even a tiny amount of normality back. As you said, if you’re careful and stick to social distancing, wear a mask etc then that’s all we can do. We can’t be responsible for how others act, we just need to think about our own safety. I think the PM is right not to bring shielding back in just yet, we all have our mental health to consider as well as our physical health.
Have a good day everyone x

Doodle Wed 23-Sept-20 11:22:48

Nonnie glad your doing well. Keep positive and stay hopeful.

Doodle Wed 23-Sept-20 11:21:09

Morning all, supposed to be raining here today but so far dry and the odd glimpse of sun. An at home day today. I intend to tackle the lounge and give it a good clean. It’s where I do most of my crafting and the dining table is covered with bits of fabric, sewing machine and all my paints ?
My lockdown hobbies have taken over,
Annie I too hope things go well for your DGD. Things have been hard for you all and her visits mean so much to you both. Let’s hope she keeps safe and is still allowed to visit.
Chrissy Bluesky how are you today? Any plans?

BlueSky Wed 23-Sept-20 10:10:41

Morning all. I noticed that at the moment strict shielding as such is not recommended, more advice to mix as little as possible, as shielding has generated or aggravated mental health issues. I never understood why even a walk in a quiet area was discouraged. Obviously if you feel more comfortable in your garden, then there’s no problem.

Anniebach Wed 23-Sept-20 10:10:24

Hi all x

nonnie I would have to go 35 miles for physiotherapy to
strength my legs so I can walk down my garden path !

Nonnie Wed 23-Sept-20 09:38:52

Annie I 'm trying to understand why any kind of psychotherapist would suggest you travel miles for treatment for agoraphobia? It just doesn't make sense.

Scardycat walking across the cliffs sounds so good, whatever the weather it must be so therapeutic.

Doodle boat trip sounds lovely.

My walk in a local park was lovely, autumn colours just starting. Lots of mums with babies and toddlers, many older people and when we got near to the college lots of students keeping their distance. I noticed there is now a basket ball area where a few lads were enjoying themselves sensibly.

We then went into town and bought a big present for a special couple with something to celebrate. Came home feeling good and was not brought down by banking issues!

For the last week the pandemic has got to me, whereas it didn't before. Watched the PM last night and, for the first time, thought he mainly talked sense. I have now made the decision not to say 'restrictions' but to think 'precautions'. We have to cope so we might just as well get on with it. Just read that the school one of my neighbours' children attends is closed for 2 weeks, implications for the other 2 who go to different schools.

I am alive, physically able, have a garden and people who love me. I will make the best of it all.
