Booked in to have biopsy at hosp

DD1 was booked for a colposcopy where they also did a biopsy. Was fine. Not too busy and we wore masks. I was allowed in the waiting room. Only complaint was you had to use hand sanitiser on way in and it was empty!!! In a hospital outpatients when all shops I have been to have plenty and in obvious places. We always have our own anyway and our own masks so definitely go but be prepared. My neighbour is a radiographer and she has told me that they have been very quiet. Less people are breaking bones as less contact sports. Covid patients are isolated and they don't see them in the departments that are not Covid.
Yes you should go because people are scared to go to hospital things are not being picked up early and there will be adequate precautions though take masks and hand sanitiser with you.

You'll be fine. A friend has just had an operation and is home recovering. Hospitals are being very careful. I think it's important that you go.

Please go to your appointment OP. It is in your best interests.

TrendyNannie, all the more reason to go for it. I had new treatment cancelled because of Covid, as it was too risky to be in hospital. My consultant then decided my need for prompt treatment was greater than my risk of dying from Covid and arranged for me to go into the day ward. Every single person on that ward was shielding, so staff were right on the ball.

someone i know had two invasive procedures at a hosp this week. was impressed with all the precautions etc. best to go.

TrendyNannie, please have the biopsy done. At best, it will be nothing, and you can get on with your life. The Hospital will make sure that everything is Covid free. All the best, and do let us know how you get on .

Yes I realise marydoll many have been denied the opportunity and have had their appointments delayed, I’ve also had two other appointments cancelled by the hospital myself,

I had specialist dental surgery yesterday. I felt very safe, all safety protections were in place. It should have been done at the hospital, but was done at a private specialist dental clinic.
I also visited the hand clinic to see the hand therapist about a month ago, after my hand surgery in January. Through lockdown I had video consultations, but I felt very safe in the hospital.
I think you should go ahead. If you need further treatment you can then have that.

I have had a few treatments in hospital, whilst shielding. Staff knew I was shielding and I had no concerns at all about what measures were in place to keep me safe.

If you have been told you need a biopsy, why on earth would you delay it? Many have been denied that opportunity and have had appointments delayed.

I went to a local hospital yesterday to have a procedure done, that had been cancelled in March. I was very impressed with the measures that the hospital had put in place tp keep every one safe. If you need a biopsy done I would definately get it done.

There must be a good reason for the biopsy. In your place, I’d go ahead because once autumn comes who knows?

Personally, I would continue to attend the appointment. My husband had his Cateract eye operation last Monday which got cancelled from the week that Lockdown began. The care and levels of hygiene throughoout the proceedure were fantastic, and hes now safely back home and delighted with the result. We were both shielding throughout the lockdown period due to his age (80), and my medical problems, but it has now given me enough confidence to speak to my Gp next week regarding a much needed knee replacement operation in my left knee.
