Flu jabs delay ?

Does the immunity from the flu jab last a year? We are just worried that if we have it in September we may be vulnerable in January/February. If it lasts a year then the sooner the better.

In an normal year, we would form a massive queue on a Saturday morning and be directed to one of several consulting rooms where doctors/nurses and health-care assistants would administer the jab. This year they will be using larger spaces- I'm guessing the community centre and/or the town hall - and inviting us to attend in socially distanced and masked blocks. I expect the notifications will be arriving any day now.

23rd September for us. Probably in the surgery car park hmm. Hope it’s not raining grin.

I phoned our surgery last week and was told the diary wasn’t open yet. Decided to try Boots and got appt for Oct 6th. I think it will be a mammoth task for health centres to get through them all. Our waiting room would normally be packed for a couple of hours at each session. With the need for distancing now it’s going to slow it down to a snail’s pace.

Our surgery rang last week offering the flu jab, so we are booked in for mid Sept.

Mine's on the 24th of this month when I have my INR. It was booked in July.

So it’s just me then.... I am not sure why R4 reported a problem which matched with the difficulty I have had getting booked.
Will try again or else Boots etc. Thankyou all.

Got an appointment today for the 12th Sept, no problem. Several dates to chose from.

Booked with Boots mid September.

Saw on GP page they are starting about 7th October, but at our local town hall.

Our surgery had given no info until a few days ago.

I phoned our surgery about booking a flu jab but was told to phone again in a few weeks. Then yesterday I heard an item on the radio that flu jab availability will be very late this year, probably into end December, as there is a problem.
Has anyone heard of a delay?
