Doodle- so sorry to hear your DH has been poorly again. You must be so relieved he has been checked over and you can go home now. Being ill away from home is one of my big fears and it must have been very upsetting for you both. I hope by now you are home and can relax a bit .
Lavender- it must be a worry with the house move on the horizon. This virus is impacting on so many aspects of our lives. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Annie- you are right- our memories never go away and without a doubt shape us for life. My first husband and son were killed in a car accident too and like you when the other children learned to drive it wasn,t easy. Hope you get a visit from MT soon I expect she always has lots to tell you when she comes.
Joce- so sad to lose an old friend , thinking of you
Chrissy - I feel so fortunate to have a good GP surgery. It’s so difficult and I think dangerous to rely on telephone consultations.
Nonnie- telephone physio , you couldn’t make it up!! No logic either with the injections scenario.

Annie our GP also only offers telephone appointments, DH is also having telephone physio!

Scardycat it certainly cheers the day up to see the GC, even when only on a video call.

Oh Doodle what a horrible situation, much worse because you are not at home. I pray he is better soon.

Lavender a little hope about the nightmares, been having them for some time but recently also had some which are simply dreams. That could happen to you too.

Annie I understand that fear of driving because of your DH but fortunately I was too young to drive when my brother was killed in a car accident and later when it was my cousin. My ongoing irrational fear is that someone in my family will die and I won't know about it.

Joce glad you can still get your injections our GP won't even do that. Strange because he did the flu vaccinations in the church hall but won't inject DH's knee. Sorry about your friend and sorry that funerals are limited in numbers too.

Doodle I think it will be good to be home.

Thanks for the reminder I will try to bring some 'light' as much as possible. Today I am thinking about the woman who read one of the lessons in online church, she is blind and read it all from braille. How much worse for her than all of us, she must need touch much more as she can't see people. I am grateful for my eyesight.

Annie good for MT, that self discipline will stand her in good stead for the rest of her life.

Chrissy luckily our surgery while offering mostly telephone consultations, will still see patients face to face if they think it’s necessary.

Morning all.
We are packing up to go home today. Not been the most relaxing of holidays. We should have booked a room in the hospital rather than the caravan. Still no complaints DH has been well checked over and is still with me. I just can’t wait to get home now.
You all have such troubles and worries to deal with too. I think we need to take any light in our lives and hang onto it as there is so much sadness out there. Whilst in the hospital yesterday waiting for DH I witnessed so many scenes. A bright young man talking to his family from his wheelchair saying he’d be happy if he could walk a bit again. He has MS and can only be about 30.
I have read all the posts dear friends. Sorry I can’t reply to them all at the moment. Please take good care of yourselves, keep safe and remember we are all here for each other.

Annie I’m sorry to hear what happened to your husband. Yes, the GP situation is dire. I can remember when Matt Hancock said that GPs must start offering more face to face consultations, I thought that my surgery would comply but nothing changed.

Our GP is only doing phone consultations. I can go in for my B12 injection, in and out.

Scaredycat there are some memories we can’t erase and which do ,I think , affect us for life, 46 years ago my husband was killed in a car crash, I worried when my daughters grew up and learned to drive, I am now the same with my mini tornado, my husband’s car was rammed off the road but no
difference , it was a car crash.

Chrissy thank you, I am shocked that your local GP’s will
not see patients, people are avoiding going to A&E, if they can’t see their GP where can they find help and advice.

I have never heard anything so ridiculous as the way GP surgeries now work, its just beyond any comprehension at all. My GP has always been hopeless so its nothing new to me except now you cannot get an appointment in any shape or form and ring and you get the covid message that goes on for nearly half an hour and then get cut off!

How are you Doodle and your hubby, hope you are both ok.
I have had horrible nightmares just lately, the usual - not being able to find my way home, stuck in the middle of tall decrepit buildings, and the other one in long corridors without doors or being able to get out. I wake up feeling horrible, my heart beating out of my chest. Have to get up make a drink, some toast and read my book.
I think all this worry about the virus is getting to me again, we are in Tier 2 (why I have no idea since all we are surrounded by are fields and sheep!) with the prospect of going into the Top Tier. Not that I go out anywhere but I keep wondering if it will affect my house move now. Anyway we will see. Just wish it would all go away.

Hi all . Sorry I can’t post much. DH been unwell again and been in hospital all day today. Thankfully out at 7 and we’ve just got back to the caravan. Hope you are all ok and I will catch up tomorrow. Sleep well and take care all. x

Annie My GP are only doing telephone consultations for everything. Like when I spoke to a GP about the area on my leg, he asked me to take a photo and email it to him. My DH had to phone one day as his breathing wasn’t too good (he has copd). The doctor said he would leave a prescription at the pharmacy for a different inhaler. I was at the pharmacy yesterday which is next to the surgery. There were several of us in the queue outside. The surgery was all locked up. Apparently the office staff are in and there’s someone on the reception desk answering the phone and booking telephone appointments but that’s it.

Nonnie - you have such a positive attitude after such sadness - I try to be more positive but it doesn,t always work. What a lovely family you have .
Doodle - so sorry about your son. Yes when you lose a beloved child it makes you especially concerned for the safety of your loved ones. I can,t bear it if people are late because of the night I waited and my son didn,t come home.
Bluesky- a good sleep and tea and biscuits what a nice start to the day. You are right worrying is a waste of precious time wish I could get my head to understand that!
Chrissy - it must be difficult to have a GP who doesn,t do face to face consultations. As Annie says what if you need a physical examination. We are very lucky with the doctors at our surgery. this Monday my DH phoned them and was able to see the GP in the afternoon. Asa result he has a scan for Thursday.
Annie hope you are doing ok today.
In the middle of typing this my eldest GD FaceTimed me with the 2GGC . My GGS was busy dipping Rich Tea biscuits in his tea - must be hereditary!! My GGD was showing off where her baby teeth had fallen out. Seeing them has made the day brighter.

I ask because I wonder what about those who have a physical
problem which needs an examination

Begentle I know, vets bills are extortionate. I’m really sorry that things are causing you so much anguish. My GP not offering face to face consultations either. Nonnie is right about the antidepressants, once your body gets used to them on the whole the side effects gradually wear off. It’s finding the right one that can take time. You may be lucky and get something that works at your first attempt. It does take a while before you really get any benefit from them but perseverance usually works.
Annie that’s a good saying and something to work on.
Nonnie You’ve been through so much and still sound positive. I truly admire you for understanding that you can’t change the past but you can improve the future by your thought and actions.
BlueSky I’m glad that you had a good night’s sleep. I struggle if I don’t have some sort of order in my life. I like everything to be planned in advance, I can’t do with spontaneous decisions. I have to work on my thought process. What you said is right, what will be will be. It’s hard to accept that thought but somehow I need to get to that position.

Nonnie with your brave mention of what happened to your DS you are showing us with health anxiety that there’s really no point in wasting precious time in worrying about ourselves and others. What will be will be in any case.

I know what you mean Doodle when our DH have been unwell or in hospital or even just away, you can’t help thinking how life would be without them, but we mustn’t dwell.

Yes Annie we are 'we' and I thank God for all I have now and put all the babies that died into the back of my mind most of the time. Cannot do that so much with DS, he is always with me and I have a family who all support each other and that includes the dils and their families. Had a card this morning from Dil's mum sent for no other reason than love. I have my health and fitness despite more operations and serious illness than I can remember and more hills to climb than anyone could expect but I am blessed to be able to look forward more than backwards. I can't change my past but I hope to improve my future.

Does NVP tell you how to do that? I haven't found a way to stop my thoughts.

Yes, Scaredycat DH and I always have a couple of cups of proper coffee in bed in the morning putting the world to rights and discussing family things, I am very blessed.

Begentle don't apologise for long posts, that's what we are here for. You have a lot to cope with and I wonder if you could have a rethink on the antidepressants? Many on here have been taking them for years and will tell you that they do have side effects but generally they subside when you have been taking them for a while. The body can take a couple of months to adjust and if one doesn't work another might. Please talk to your GP.

Those of you with OCD, sounds horrible, that constant checking must be awful. It is bad enough that I am always checking up on family but I understand the reason. DS was found dead and there was no reason to expect it and no reason for this death has been found. Fortunately family understand and keep in touch.

Chrissy sorry to hear about your cat, it was a good age.

Nanny anxiety about our loved ones is worse than anxiety about ourselves.

I'm still improving although, as you can see, rather introspective at the moment. Trying hard not to think about Christmas but it keeps coming back into my head.
