Magnifier for reading

Struggling with reading lately - newsprint is too small etc. I have reading glasses but need a bit more help. Had cataracts done two years ago but still struggling with reading. I got a magnifier from Amazon but found the frame too small - only a few words fit the frames. Also it was quite heavy and tiring to hold. There is a magnifier about the size of a paperback which I might try.
If anyone has similar experience please let me have your comments. Thanks!

Should you not go back to your optician and get retested? Properly measured reading glasses should allow you to read without using a magnifying glass.

Something like one of these perhaps? Depends whether you want one to hold over the print, or hang round your neck. Good luck in your search!

I agree with tanith you should see an optician, but if you would feel comfortable with a magnifying glass, you might consider one designed for crafting. It hangs round your neck, sitting at an angle to your body so that it leaves your hands free, and has a light built in. I have had cataracts removed on both eyes, and though I read with spectacles, I do use my magnifier for fine work.
