I agree with momb there could be more than one reason for your husband's problems Buntie123 don't jump to conclusions, wait for the test results then go from there. I hope things get better for you as well.

Is he depressed? Has he a past history of depression? Paranoid ideas can be part of a severe depressive illness. Just try and keep calm, let the tests get done and then hear the conclusions. Take a day at a time. Hope things improve for you both

I am so sorry that you are facing this worry.

My OH was very paranoid - people were trying to kill him, cut him up, poison him. He also thought I was sending messages through my hearing aids and making dates - with women.

It was very sad and a great struggle for us all, so I do understand how worried you must be. IN his case, he had PD, and both the illness and some of the meds he had to take were responsible for his mental decline.

I hope that the scans show up something that is treatable and that you will receive all the necessary support.

I think a shrinkage of the brain shows up on scan which would denote Alzheimer’s or dementia

A scan would show tumour, vascular dementia or any physical abnormality in the brain. It might not show Alzheimers or perhaps a serious mental illness which may have been brought on by redundancy - depression with anxiety or psychosis. Sounds like the Mental Health Team is on board and need a CT to perhaps eliminate other causes.

I think scan can shows signs of shrinkage or dementia but it could be a temporary anxiety thing If the redundancy was a shock it may have just had a really bad effect on him which medication may well help
Job loss coupled with lockdown could bring on a mental health condition
