support, understanding and sharing for all mental health
troubles .

Nonnie Tue 30-Mar-21 10:41:30

Polomint hope the phyio was good. DH has only been able to have phone physio which was a complete waste of time!!

Doodle do go back to your GP again, DH went several times before anything was done and then, when he finally saw the consultant, he didn't need the x-rays to see that the knee is twisted. I went online and found a small cycling machine which you use when sitting on a chair, just pedals on a frame. I think it was about £30. Can't remember what I put in the search though.

I also have an old palm cross, used it when doing online church.

Annie it is lovely when the family ask for help, gives us a purpose and a feeling that we have achieved something. Why are you still sleeping on the sofa? I do hope you manage to get out in the warm fresh air today, even just a little in the back garden.

Please ALL stop talking about chocolate!!!!! I don't even have it in the house because once I open it I'm lost. Start off with I'll only have a little bit and then it is all gone.

Just going to have a coffee then go out and work in the garden. Not a huge amount to do (I think) but will also clean all the garden furniture and the washing line which is so old I can't close it.

My old car passed its MOT again yesterday, couldn't believe it, it just keeps going year after year. This year it had only done 400 miles.

Hi all x

How is everyone ? lockdown is easing in England, do you feel
lighter in your thoughts ?

I have been reading about Nicky Cambell he has spoken of his
mental illness, he also speaks of how his dog helps him , i
remember Monty Don saying how his dog helped him with his
depression, seems pets do make a difference in the lives of some with depression, I certainly can’t even think of not having
dogs , any thoughts on this ?

Doodle Mon 29-Mar-21 20:49:06

No I can’t see you whizzing along the motorway with Alfie but it’s not too far for them to visit you. ?

Anniebach Mon 29-Mar-21 20:42:45

54 miles Doodle, Alfie won’t manage that ? x

Doodle Mon 29-Mar-21 20:39:21

My Annie you have had a busy day but how lovely to be so wanted and having your DGD asking for your help on so many things. Hope they will be happy in their new home. Is it far from you?

Anniebach Mon 29-Mar-21 20:27:53

Hi all x

What a day, end of year returns coming up, laptop locked.

Elder granddaughter moved house so several FaceTimes -
Granny do you think this is right in this corner .

Granny this is the front garden , you chose what plants I like !

Granny this is the back garden, I have been given a cherry blossom tree for house warming, where shall I plant it .

Whilst this was going on her father, sister , brother, partner were unloading the van !

Haven’t been on Alfie , still sleeping on sofa , waking very early , too much light. Physiotherapy dept is arranging support because of my little problem of going out - agoraphobia!

Sorry I am late joining you , see you all tomorrow x

Doodle Mon 29-Mar-21 20:13:34

polomint you are right. Chocolate is supposed to make you feel better. I certainly enjoy it.
Sorry if I’ve missed it but where are you based? Hope you get some improvement in weather too. Sunshine always lifts the spirits.
Scaredycat it is hard when you lose a pet isn’t it. We haven’t had any more since our last dog had to be put to sleep. Before lockdown we were enjoying holidays we couldn’t have when the dogs were alive as they didn’t do well in kennels and we couldn’t bear to leave them
Sounds as though you had a lovely afternoon with your DD and DGD.
Annie have you been outside on Alfie again?
Joce hope you and all the BDG are ok x

Scaredycat Mon 29-Mar-21 18:09:37

Late good afternoon
Doodle- you are right we do keep expecting to see our cat in his usual places! As he was a house cat we always Had to be careful that he didn’t escape (his main aim in life) . Now we are getting used to being able to leave doors and windows open again. He was our only cat the last in a long line- I have had cats since I was a little girl. Don’t think we will have another one though.
Glad you are enjoying your videos - made me want to dig out ours.
What an Easter Sunday you are going to have diving into your Choccie hoard.
Nonnie- we definitely didn’t belong with all those old people. Same as I don’t really believe the person I catch a glimpse of in shop windows is really me!!!!
Bluesky - your Sunday sounded nice India and wine - can’t be bad even though it’s alcohol free!!
Polomint - hope yourcDH had a beneficial physio session today. Chocolate is always good - hope you enjoy yours at Easter.
This afternoon my Daughter and Grandaughter came for tea and cake in the garden. What a treat to be with them again. It was such a lovely warm and sunny day. So many people must be meeting new babies for the first time. A day of hope.
Love to all in BDGx

polomint Mon 29-Mar-21 11:22:19

I'm afraid not doodle I didn't give up chocolate. In fact I probably ate more due to being a bit depressed. Seemingly there is a feel good element in chocolate that raises your mood. I needed a lot of it to raise mine!
Weather here is stormy and wet and very depressing but I think England is easingvrules today and they are going to get 75 degrees for the next few days ...lucky them. Take care everyone as there is probably going to be a spike in cases due to people mingling again

Doodle Sun 28-Mar-21 18:52:46

Evening all.
Nonnie I have had trouble with my knees for a long time but whenever I have an x Ray they say it’s just normal wear and tear for someone my age. They work but they creak and groan and are a bit unstable. I may have them checked again when lockdown is over. I used to do the stairs every day till DH fell down them and broke his ribs. Since then we have been using the lift. Never learnt to ride a bike and now have no where to store one, I do need to do exercises though, you are quite right, I’m just a bit lazy.
Bluesky it’s amazing how age catches up with you doesn’t it. I often look at others and think ....I don’t look as old as them do I ?
Hello Annie I have watched the Palm Sunday service at Canterbury. No new Palm cross for me this year so I have kept the old one.
polomint did you give up chocolate for lent? I have all my Mother’s Day chocs in the fridge just waiting for next weekend.
Hope all in the gang are ok. Take care all x

polomint Sun 28-Mar-21 13:05:51

Hope all have a pleasant day and the sun shines wherever you are.
Physio coming to see my husband tomorrow and hope he has some new exercises for him

polomint Sun 28-Mar-21 13:03:01

My daughter managed to get palms from chapel yesterday which were blessed. Scotland churches were closed during lockdown whereas in England they were open. A priest went to court to defend the right for them to open and it was declared that to have had them closed was unlawful and they will never be closed again for worship
Looking forward to easter Sunday where I will open my easter egg and hand over some to my family

Anniebach Sun 28-Mar-21 12:13:07

Hi all x

I posted yesterday and it’s not here !

Palm Sunday ,i am now so nostalgic, remembering Palm Sunday March wearing a new dress

How is everyone?

BlueSky Sun 28-Mar-21 12:08:21

Morning all x Just popping in to say we’ve had the ‘Wrong age group’ vaccination experience too Nonnie and Scaredy! Looking at our fellow patients, we felt perhaps we’d turned up on the wrong day! Surely we are not that old?! confused
Feeling I’m living in a virtual world at the moment, watching Rick Stein’s India while drinking a glass of alcohol free red wine!
Hope our BDG people are OK. Have a good Palm Sunday x ?

Nonnie Sun 28-Mar-21 11:31:31

Scardycat I think our GPs have got our birthdates wrong, I didn't belong with all those old people grin

Joce does your local maternity department need baby hats? They can be very simple and they seem to give them to all births, not just the premmies.

Doodle can anything be done about the knees? DH will be getting his new one soon. Apparently biking and stairs are good for knees.

Doodle Sat 27-Mar-21 20:35:08

Hello Bluesky hope you are ok. I’m looking forward to the lighter evenings. When it warms up a bit I will start going for a walk then too as there’s a bit less traffic in the evening.
Joce that’s a shame about the knitting but it’s not worth doing things that cause you pain. I think knitted bootees are lovely. If you can do those without problem that would be good.
I haven’t been quilting but I’m going to start again soon. I have decided to make some table mats. I have so many different sewing ideas and no need for large quilts so I thought I’d use my ideas on something smaller ?
Your DGD will love having some shorts for the summer.
Nonnie it took me a long time to conquer my fear of lifts but I’m so glad I did particularly now old age and bad knees are catching up with me. Good to hear you got your second jab. You must feel more protected now.
Scaredycat it will take some time before you stop looking for your cat when you enter a room. Was he your only cat?
We have our USB back now and this afternoon I watch a video of one of the earlier meetings between my 9 month old DGD and her 1 month old cousin. It was so funny. She looked at him as if to say ‘What’s that?’ ?
Annie I too hope you have been out on Alfie again.
Hope all is well with all the gang. Take care x

Scaredycat Sat 27-Mar-21 14:05:42

Good afternoon all
Thank you all for your kind words about our poor cat. He was an indoor cat and very ‘in your face’ so we are missing him very much but we know we have done the right thing.
Doodle- It,ll be great when you get your USB back. Am I right that you can then watch them on the TV and computer? Your grandchildren will enjoy seeing their parents when they were younger . We have CD,s with the Grandchildren on and now their children are the age they were when we filmed them. How time flies.
Nonnie- you made me smile about the old people at your health centre - funny it was the same at ours!!!!
Annie- hope you,ve been out on Alfie again today and the sun is shining. Yes just to feel the breeze must have been wonderful. It’s a big day for Wales today isn’t it with things starting to open up a bit. Will MT be able to visit soon?
Also well done with the Rugby Triple Crown!!!
Joce,Bluesky Hope you and all BDG are having a good Saturday. Xxx

Nonnie Sat 27-Mar-21 10:15:23

annie Fresh air after all this time!! Please try to just go out the front on Alfie, not far, just enough to enjoy the fresh air, it makes all the difference. Another view to look at after all this time. Doodle has set you a good example, if she can do it so can you. Go girl.

Sounds like the OT was positive.

Oh Scardycat so sorry, so sad to lose another member of your family. I feel for you.

Had our second vaccination yesterday, very efficient and lovely people at the health centre but, oh, all those old people! Surely not us????? No reaction, can't even feel where the needle went in.

Joce345 Fri 26-Mar-21 16:38:59

Sadly I think my knitting days are over, my arms hurt so much.. I’m going to have to say no to the shawl. May be I can just stick to bootees..

Bluesky we have to keep plodding hope you are plotting with us..

Nonnie think there’s a lot of us forgetting what day we are on at the moment..

Doodle hope you are plodding and not plotting on. Are you doing any quilting at the minute... If been making my granddaughter some shorts..

Hope you have all had a positive day..

BlueSky Fri 26-Mar-21 12:24:20

Afternoon all x Annie congratulations on going down your path on Alfie! As the wise man said: “Every long journey starts with a small step” plus clocks going forward so we’ll have lighter evenings and hopefully the weather will pick up, together with further easing of restrictions. Alfie will have to be well charged up!
Scaredy sorry to hear about your cat, having had cats all my younger life, I know how attached you get to them and how sad it is when they are gone. But you’ve done all you could to help him.
Nonnie Doodle Joce hope you are still plodding on.
Wishing you all a good afternoon x cafe

Doodle Fri 26-Mar-21 11:39:29

Annie you did it ?. You went down your garden on Alfie. What an amazing achievement. Try just going out onto your patio. Take it gently Annie . When I got to grips with my claustrophobia it was one small step at a time. Slowly I began to realise that my fears had lessened and I was able to cope better. So pleased for you.
Joce thanks for the reminder about the clocks, I had forgotten ?. I like the lighter evenings too.
Nonnie no Nonnie news is ok as long as you are feeling ok. ?. I am eagerly awaiting the return of all our video cassettes of our children and grandchildren which someone has transferred onto a USB for us,
Scaredycat oh I’m so sorry. That is sad news. I have done the same with two precious dogs so know how you feel. It’s such a loss. You did the right thing and eased his pain.
It will take a while to come to terms with it. Our pets are such good companions. Take care x

Joce345 Fri 26-Mar-21 11:35:56

Annie what fantastic new, and you enjoyed you trip on Alfie I’m so happy for you... slowly slowly you will get there, well done you a massive step for you...??

Joce345 Fri 26-Mar-21 11:32:57

Awww Scaredycat I’m am so sorry, sending you hugs... ?

Anniebach Fri 26-Mar-21 11:25:34

Scaredycat I am so sorry, you both will grieve for your cat, your choice was to let him linger in pain or let him sleep, so not really a choice was it ? sending you a cwtch x

Scaredycat Fri 26-Mar-21 10:42:22

Good morning all
Feeling very sad today as we had to have our lovely cat put to sleep yesterday. It was a horrible day - started with the dental hygienist ( an appointment I,d waited ages for) ,then the churchyard for grave “gardening “ for my DS and his Dad, then vets visit to take more blood as they had messed up on Wednesday. Late that afternoon vet phoned to say that my cat was gravely ill and the only choice was to let him go. So we took him and now feeling awful. My DH is really upset as they were big buddies. I just needed to share it with you as I feel so sad.
Annie - news that you went out in your Garden is wonderful and I know you can go further you are so brave. Xx
Nonnie,Doodle, Polomint,Joce,Bluesky and all the lovely BDG hope you have a good day and see you tomorrowxxx
