support, understanding and sharing for all mental health
troubles .

Nonnie Wed 03-Feb-21 10:23:50

Oh nanny 2 weeks? Seems a long time for your poor DH.

annie so good to hear the carer has been in, 3/4 times a week after nothing at all is going to be such a change for you.

Doodle near the front of our house on a wide grass verge there is an explosion of snowdrops, reminds me of my snowdrop bouquet many years ago when I was a bridesmaid. Need to split and spread the ones in our garden.

Not doing so well on the positives today except that at least I don't have anything negative to say.

rafichagran Tue 02-Feb-21 20:42:39

Annie I am really pleased to hear your update
To everyone else stay safe and take care. I will post more when my arm is a little better.

Doodle Tue 02-Feb-21 20:12:29

Annie I am so pleased that someone has started to take an interest in your well-being. About time too.
I hope they do visit and you are not let down again. Fingers and everything else crossed for you.x
nanny it sounds awful but I have read that maggots are used in health situations so hope it works for your DH.
Had a Binks cuddle today ?
Scaredycat ( no mention of cake today ?) like you I would be really pleased if Annie gets the help she deserves.
The Canterbury Cathedral website was showing snowdrops today. So pretty. I am going to try and get D H out walking this week. Hope you enjoyed your walk.

Anniebach Tue 02-Feb-21 19:57:16

Hi all x sorry late joining you today, been a lot going on, a GP
phoned me this morning, the GP who saw me yesterday asked him to check on me. There are no carers available. He phoned
an emergency group and a very nice lady came to see me , they will come Wednesday,Thursday,Friday this week so I am
very fortunate.

I was such a plonker ,she asked which doctor I was registered
with, I said ‘Dr.X’, she said ‘he retired years ago and is dead’,
so I have to ring surgery tomorrow and asked who my doctor is , ?.

Hope you are all coping, x

Scaredycat Tue 02-Feb-21 16:02:43

Hello everyone.
Annie- Such good news your GP is helping you at last. I hope the careers are kind and able to get you moving more easily. How wonderful it will be if you can get out in your garden and sit in the sun. The start of better times to come. You are so selfless Annie it’s great to think of you receiving the help you so deserve. Hope you are feeling better today.
Nanny- glad your DH is improving - maggots sound really horrible I hope they do the trick. Happy Binks is keeping you loving company now.
Nonnie- your poor friend what a lot to cope with all at once. She must have been very happy to hear from you.
Doodle- hope you and DH are ok and that it won’t be long before you,ll be able to get out for a walk together. Today there were a few more snowdrops out and it felt milder.
Stay safe everyoneXX

nanny2507 Tue 02-Feb-21 15:33:02

oh nonnie how awful for your friend. DH is improving daily. Today they are putting maggots in the wound yukkkkkk. They have mentioned that he might be able to come home in 2 weeks ish. Fingers crossed. Much love to all xx

Doodle Tue 02-Feb-21 15:30:01

nanny sorry to hear your DH is still in hospital. I hope he is improving. Any news about when he might come home.
Glad Binks is helping by giving you cuddles.
Nonnie you poor friend. What a lot she has to cope with. It’s so difficult not being able to visit or help one another.
Annie hope you are feeling a bit better. Antibiotics take a while to start having an effect. It’s surprising how quickly muscle wastage can come on. DH and I need to follow your advice and get out walking again soon.
Take care all x

Nonnie Tue 02-Feb-21 10:48:38

Annie why shouldn't your post be about you? I feel it is all positive and pray that the carers are people you are comfortable with. Yes, muscle wastage could creep up on any of us, especially during lockdown when we stay home. Hopefully, after you have walked round the garden you will progress to the front of the house and who knows what is next?

nanny are you able to go and visit DH? Is he improving? Enjoy your cuddles.

I want to share this: Yesterday I messaged a young friend who had been quiet for a while. I knew her partner is a personal trainer so couldn't work but, in addition, her father had a heart attack, her 3 month old daughter had chicken pox and her mum now has Covid 19! I just wanted to go down and give her a big hug. It puts our situation into perspective.

nanny2507 Tue 02-Feb-21 10:05:37

Good Morning all, DH is still in hospital, Binks is still being good boy and is loving cuddles. hope all are well. annie sorry to hear you are poorly xx

Doodle Mon 01-Feb-21 20:33:58

Nonnie I read my post through twice but still missed the Scardycake . No wonder it made you laugh. I was obviously obsessed with cake at that time ?
Good the ice has gone. Hope you went out and had a good walk.
Scaredycat sorry about that. I can’t promise I won’t do it again. I get a bit trigger happy with my typing some times ?
The Emma pillow is probably similar to yous but is made up of 3 layers. It has a very firm layer one side, a slightly softer layer the other side and a foam layer in the middle. It comes in a zipped cover so you can take out one of the layers if you don’t want it. We both use all 3 layers but use the softer of the two sides to sleep on. Because it’s so firm it also works as good back support if you are sitting up reading.
Annie at last someone has taken notice. Shame it has taken so long and is happening during lockdown. I do hope this time it works out and you do get someone to help you walk and to sit with you in the garden. How are you today, are you feeling any better?
rafichagran, Bluesky, Joce how are you all.
Lucyanne still praying for you and all the BDG.x

rafichagran Mon 01-Feb-21 18:19:04

Thank you Scaredycat

Anniebach Mon 01-Feb-21 17:30:04

Hi all and thank you x

Update, GP called this morning, he is the head of the practice ,
he sat for quite sometime and went through everything, he even said I was never to be concerned about not going to the
surgery because of the bridge, I remember my darling Catherine was friends with his wife, they have a son with mental illness.

He discussed how my agoraphobia had caused problems with the arthritis, he is arranging for me to have carers ! who will
do short walks with me so my legs will strengthen and he said
something which I have banged on about here,

‘Mental and Physical Health cannot be seperated .

I am not having carers to help me dress etc ! but they will sit
out with me on the patio until I am comfortable with it, walk
around my garden with me etc.

So my lovely friends, keep walking, muscle wastage really is
painful and causes many problems.

Have to wait for the Vertigo to clear first .

Sorry this is all about me but I wanted to stress how important
walking is.

Scaredycat Mon 01-Feb-21 15:28:13

Afternoon all.
Doodle- is an Emma pillow like a Tempur pillow? We bought on of those each and although they weigh a ton and feel like a house brick at first we love them now and definitely are good for your neck. I liked my new name ScaredyCake- cake is one thing I,m not scared of!!
Nonnie- I,m definitely going to have a go at the rock cakes and will report back when I,ve done them!! Hope you had a nice walk.
Bluesky- I think a dog would be good for you both but it is a big decision to make. Retired Greyhounds are great because they like a walk but love chilling out on the rug too. They are so gentle too. We would both go stir crazy if we couldn’t get out to walk and go out in all weathers. I hope you get your jab soon.
Annie- I,m so sorry you have been so unwell. Any one of those conditions would make you feel poorly but all at once is awful. Glad the GP came out to see you and it may make him realise you haven’t had the best of care. On a positive note I,m so glad you will keep the wheelchair and are thinking of getting out when you are ready. I hope you feel better soon. Sending a big hugX
Rafichagran- good to see you and hope you are ok.
Love to allX

Nonnie Mon 01-Feb-21 10:20:10

BlueSky I'm like your DH, I keep asking DH to come out and walk with me. I actually prefer to go on my own as he is not able to stride out and it feel like an amble but I know it is good for him.

Annie I am so sorry you are so poorly today, I hope the tests find something easily treatable and that you get better soon. Maybe when they have been to the house they will realise you need more help, I do hope so.

Don't be surprised they didn't write to you, we only got a phone call, never anything in writing. Perhaps different surgeries have their own systems.

Doodle I wouldn't normally draw attention to typos but your put Scardycake instead of Scardycat which is why you can't see it. It was after writing about cake. Certainly gave me a chuckle grin

Positives - ice has gone and DH has agreed to come out for a walk.

rafichagran Sun 31-Jan-21 18:18:37

Glad the GP came out to you? I hope he/she notes your various health conditions and sends people out to help you.

Doodle Sun 31-Jan-21 17:40:14

Nonnie I’m sorry I can’t see my typo. Please tell me ...I like a good laugh ?
I love coconut. Your cakes sound lovely.
Good you have some positives ?
Bluesky you know what Annie would say, get out and walk.
A dog would be fun. Are your thinking of getting one?
No news on our jabs either. I expect it will happen soon.
Take care all x

Doodle Sun 31-Jan-21 17:35:48

Glad they are coming to give you a vaccination. That’s good news. Hope they take care of you and you start to feel better soon. Lots of love xxflowers

Doodle Sun 31-Jan-21 17:34:38

Vertigo is awful. My SIL used to suffer from it. I do hope you feel better soon

Doodle Sun 31-Jan-21 17:34:06

UTI, dehydration, vertigo and possible anaemia. Strikes me the GPS haven’t been keeping an eye on you recently

Doodle Sun 31-Jan-21 17:33:15

I am posting in sentences because my iPad keeps throwing me out. It’s been happening all afternoon and I keep losing my posts

Doodle Sun 31-Jan-21 17:32:33

Annie you poor thing you must be feeling rotten. So glad the GP came out to see you.

BlueSky Sun 31-Jan-21 17:32:27

Annie sorry to hear, you didn’t need all that on top of everything else. It does sound like vertigo and must be absolutely awful, I’ve only got experience of occasional ordinary dizziness and that’s bad enough. Plus being on your own must be really hard, nobody to make you a cup of tea even! Sending you a big hug x

Anniebach Sun 31-Jan-21 16:44:03

Hi all x

Sorry , having rough time. GP came out this morning,

Total loss of balance, can’t get off sofa possibly vertigo, have to have tests.

And uti so anti biotics

And dehydration

and suspected anemia so to have blood tests,

A carer is calling at 6.00 to make me a cuppa

Fed up, cheesed off, no stitching, no iPad

Had phone call from Surgery of Friday, a nurse will call to give
me vaccination, puzzling because I didn’t ask and hadn’t received a letter

Take care all x

BlueSky Sun 31-Jan-21 10:40:36

Morning all x Another cold day here with snow promised. DH still will insist on going for a walk, while I would happily stay indoors by the fire! He feels trapped if he doesn’t go out, that’s why I keep telling him we need a dog, him for his walks and me to help with the empty nest syndrome!
Waiting for the jab, no notification yet, hoping is at the local surgery, both as I don’t fancy travelling far, also I’ve heard it’s the Oxford AZ which is my first choice.
Trying to be upbeat, things will improve thanks to the vaccines.
Have a pleasant and peaceful Sunday everybody x cafecupcake

Nonnie Sun 31-Jan-21 10:04:49

Annie could you eat flapjacks? Are oats OK?

Doodle I think it might be helpful for anyone with neck issues to try different pillows, it could be that what we have been doing for years is causing the issue. Never too old to learn as I keep telling DH grin.

Please reread your last post and get the laugh you just gave me with your typo. We all know where your mind was! grin.

I will have to bake again as I scattered desiccated coconut over the buns and now the bag is opened I have to use it within a month.

Brrrr, ice on the bird bath and glass topped garden table is white. Staying in today.

Positives today - CV19 numbers seem to be going down, my house is warm, supermarket delivery today.
