support, understanding and sharing for all mental health
troubles .

Doodle Sun 09-May-21 14:03:34

Nonnie like where you are we have lots of tables on the pavement in our town. Some right next to the kerb so people walk between them and the food shop. It is a weird set up but I suppose shops are doing anything they can to survive.
How nice to have a good relationship with your DILs. I get on with mine too. Makes it easier for the whole family.
Annie yes I see the problem. I’m glad you have Monday to Friday sorted. I can’t understand why everything is made so difficult for you. Surely the council could arrange for the ramps without all the rigmarole involved, Hope you get your ramps and find a suitable tray soon. x
Have a good day all. x

Anniebach Sun 09-May-21 09:58:28

Hi all x

Doodle I have to use the wheelchair, can’t walk, so can’t use a trolley .

nonnie I am trying to find a tray, proving difficult . Monday to Friday is ok, have a lovely woman who comes for an hour but she doesn’t work weekends, no one wants to work weekends which is understandable.

Telephoned council Friday re ramps to take wheelchair outside, simple ? not with the council, put through to Care & Repair who put me through to Social Services who will contact
my occupational therapist to assess my need for a wheelchair to go outdoors ?

Nonnie Sun 09-May-21 09:36:22

Annie glad you can still laugh about it when things are so difficult. When I was on crutches I had a shoulder bag big enough to put quite a lot in which I slung round my neck and managed that way but longer term is there some sort of tray you could get for the wheelchair?

BlueSky Good you feel better now and that whatever it is has gone. When we went into town I noticed how many more places have expanded onto the pavements and that those who already did had gone further. I assume the council has given them permission to do so.

Doodle to have kinks to straighten out would be wonderful! Most of my family have lovely hair but one inherited mine poor chap!

I hope I'm a good MiL but my DiLs make it very easy to be so. They are lovely and come from wonderful families who have all become part of our extended family. I am in frequent WhatsApp contact with both their mothers too, one of whom learned to speak English just for us.

Sun is shining hope it lasts.

Doodle Sat 08-May-21 21:27:12

Evening all.
Joce 6 months already. Wow that’s gone quickly, I bet you love seeing him. Nothing quite like a baby to cheer us up.
Nonnie I have a trusty pair of hair straighteners that I use when I’ve washed my hair. They take the kinks out. I only do it once. It’s not fancy but it’s tidy.
That’s lovely to buy a treat for your DIL. You must be a nice MIL to do that. Glad you had a good time.
Annie you sound exhausted. Do you not have one of those little trolly things on wheels? My SIL had one and found it so useful when she hurt her arm.
Did your dogs think you were going to give them a treat or do they just follow you around all the time? Hope you get some help tomorrow.
Bluesky good to hear you are feeling a bit better. Yes this weather is not good news for the pubs with outside seating . I expect they will still make use of it this summer though. Many will want to go out first chance they have.
We had an at home day today. I’ve been shortening trousers and dresses. Just confirmed my opinion that I like quilting but don’t like dressmaking ?
Sleep well all x

BlueSky Sat 08-May-21 17:49:48

Afternoon all x Wet day as forecasted but this afternoon the rain just eased off enough for us to have a walk in town. I like it as there’s a fair sized park where I admire the lovely dogs out for their walk. Happy to report that weird fluey feeling I’ve had for the past two days has now gone, not sure if it was anything to do with the jab which I had last week, maybe just a bug.
Annie sorry to hear you are still struggling, and as Nonnie said too cold or wet at the moment to enjoy sitting outside. Felt sorry for the pubs allowed to open outdoors, they were deserted despite the huts and gazebos they had to put up. When they’ll finally be allowed to serve indoors it’ll probably be too warm and everybody
will be rushing outside!
Wishing you all a pleasant evening x wine

Anniebach Sat 08-May-21 16:45:13

Hi all x
How is everyone ? You had a lovely day Thursday nonnie x

I am shattered today, the person who comes in Saturday and
Sunday could do so today, I don’t have a kitchen table, no room, so things are brought in to the living room, haven’t found a thingy to carry things with the wheelchair yet so this
meant one item at a time , my dogs trotted with me but then gave up and lay on the sofa whilst I kept going like a yo-yo ?

Anyone who wants to lose weight and has a dining room, carry
one thing at a time, you will walk miles ?

Nonnie Sat 08-May-21 10:14:13

Scardycat wish I was as good at keeping my hair looking like I've just come out of the salon. I'm with you on the hat but still wearing my thermal vest!!

Annie good that things are moving forwards and that you got outside a little. It is still too cold to hang around outside unless we can keep moving. It will get warmer soon so you will be able to do more.

Ellie Anne I doubt there is much you can do to raise your son's mood but it must help them for you to be able to do the childcare when they need it.

It was a beautiful day here yesterday, went for a short walk with DH in the morning and noticed the lilac is blossoming now and overhanging the road. DiL came for lunch and we went shopping in the afternoon. Had a lovely time and I bought her a treat as DS had messaged me and told me how brilliantly she had achieved at work. He is so proud of her.

Today is wet and dreary so staying in.

Joce345 Sat 08-May-21 10:02:12

Annie so good to hear you sat out side, that’s brilliant news.
A massive step for you how did you feel?
You got rid of the commode yess. Hopefully things will start to quieten down for you now Annie...
I don’t Like the job my daughter does it’s a worry but like scared says they know what they are doing.
Enjoy your DVD.

Ellie Anne it always lifts me when I get time with my Grandkids..

Doodle how are you doing. Little man is 6 months old now, I said to my Daughter what a time to be born... not being able to take him anywhere or meet people, now I’m thinking yes that sad but he bring her and us so much joy he has help us so much with out knowing bless him....

Scaredycat how are you, I had my hair done has soon as lockdown was lifted it’s ready again now grows so fast...

Nonnie they grow so fast, would love to know what his wight is now he’s so big...

Have a good weekend all hope this rain stops..?

Doodle Fri 07-May-21 21:07:32

Best thing you can do is be on had to help out with your DGC.
Sounds like your sons mood has nothing to do with you but just how he is. Some people find life hard to cope with.
Hope you have a good weekend.

Ellie Anne Fri 07-May-21 20:39:46

Doodle mostly I do. We’ve had our ups and downs but usually we’re ok. They are an hour away so we’re not around too much but always available when needed. I know she struggles with my sons moods but he’s always been like that .

Doodle Fri 07-May-21 20:27:56

Bluesky how have you been today?
Joce a tooth already. How old is your little man now?
Annie hope you’re not stressing. Life sounds a bit hectic for you at the moment. Glad you managed to get outside for a bit and see your garden. Wow the commode has gone. Well done.
Like Scaredycat I think your MT is a sensible girl and will have thought things through. Hope your DVd thingy comes and you enjoy your weekend viewing. x
Nonnie I am so grateful for the online services this last year. I have learnt quite a lot and enjoy the readings.
Scaredycat that was a nice post to Annie
We have been to Henley today for a walk along the towpath. It wasn’t too cold so we treated ourselves to an ice cream ?
Ellie Anne lovely to spend time with your DGDs
Sorry your son upset you. This lockdown has caused so many to have financial worries. Hopefully things will start looking up with the easing of lockdown and things will improve.
It’s hard not to worry I know but try and enjoy your weekend and think about the fun you had with your DGDs.
Do you get on well with your DIL?
Take care all

Anniebach Fri 07-May-21 19:38:14

Ellie Anne happy for you that you spent the day with your
granddaughters.

Sorry to learn your son was in a bad mood but you understand
why , that must help . So many are under so much stress because of the virus, sadly it is going to take time for things to
get back to somewhere near normal.

Stay brave and keep sharing here x

Ellie Anne Fri 07-May-21 19:02:37

Annie I hope you get everything sorted out. It’s still a bit cold to sit outside isn’t it?
We’ve had hail this week and my son has had snow.
Looked after my granddaughters yesterday because their school was shut for the election. I enjoyed that but my son came home in a bad mood and hardly spoke to me.
Din l says he’s like this all the time just now. They both work but not very well paid and I know they have built up debts over the past year because of COVID. It’s all such a worry.

Anniebach Fri 07-May-21 14:10:42

Hi all x

How is everyone ? Seems hair salons are popular ?

This morning I was able to look at my shrubs in the back garden and sit for a few minutes ,it’s cold, on my front patio, in
my wheelchair. Won the battle over the damn commode, it’s
gone, next round will be with the council !

Hopefully the computer shop will deliver my dvd thing to attach to my new laptop this afternoon , a weekend of ‘Ballykissangel’ .

Scaredycat Thu 06-May-21 16:14:40

Annie - you must be tired with all these comings and going’s but hopefully it will all help you to manage things a bit easier.
I understand how you feel about MT but support her is really all you can do. She sounds such a sensible girl I,m sure she’s thought it through and chosen something she really wants to do.
Thinking of youX
Joce- wow a tooth already I bet he looks so cute. These are precious times for you.
Nonnie - I just love that new cut feeling. I,m not too bad at keeping it ok but for the first time ever have made 2 future appointments so it’s nice for the Summer. Right now though my head feels freezing when we,re out walking - I refuse to wear my woolly hat in May.
Bluesky- what a shame your outing wasn’t enjoyable. Sometimes an outlet can seem soulless especially when you are walking round in this icy wind- better luck next time. Good idea to wait for 2nd jab before haircut I must admit it did make me have a bit more confidence when I went.
Doodle- hope you are having a good day. This afternoon the wind was so cold when we were walking- I,m beginning to hate Winter clothes?
Enjoy the rest of the day lovely BDG

Nonnie Thu 06-May-21 10:49:43

Doodle once again you sound positive. I hope we will be comfortable in our new church when we get to actually attend a service. It feels good online.

BlueSky I think those outlet places are just like any other shops these day but will added tat. They used to be good but always seem disappointing these days. At least you went out.

Joce first tooth, those little milestones can be quite emotional. Looking forward to them reaching the next stage whilst wanting them not to grow up.

Annie and you are in mine too.

It is sleeting now! Don't think I'll go out after all, do housework instead!

Anniebach Thu 06-May-21 09:26:19

Hi all x

Forgive me for not joining with you all, things still very difficult, more appointments today. And am concerned about the line of work my mini tornado has chosen but will support her. Will try to come back later .

You are all in my prayers, x

Joce345 Wed 05-May-21 22:55:17

Doodle I’m ok today thank you... our little man has cut his first tooth... they grow so fast..
Night all sleep well ?

BlueSky Wed 05-May-21 22:36:33

Thanks Doodle you are so kind. Good night x

Doodle Wed 05-May-21 22:13:41

Bluesky sorry you had a disappointing trip. So many shopping centres have closed shops now. I think you are wise to wait for your second jab before getting your hair cut. We had ours a couple of weeks ago.
Hope you have a better day tomorrow x

BlueSky Wed 05-May-21 21:22:28

Evening all x Another cold day with a bitter wind so went to an out of town outlet where we hadn’t been for over a year. Yes you guessed it was DH’s idea as I said I didn’t need/want anything. Anyway some units closed down for good, not many customers, no nice items, too cold to have a drink outside, so a disappointing if not depressing outing. I think the on line trading is here to stay. I see you all have been to the hairdressers and I badly need to make an appointment too but I wanted to have my second jab before booking. See they are talking about booster jab by the autumn already. I guess it’s the only way. Have a good night x brew

Doodle Wed 05-May-21 20:36:47

I’ve had my haircut. ?. I feel so much better. So lightheaded.
My neck feels a bit chilly though ?
Nonnie I agree the second jab helps us to feel more secure.
I think I have found the right church. I was very happy with my old one, lovely people but a bit far to travel especially in the winter. Lockdown has forced the break so when I go back to church I will try the local one. Been there before once or twice and found it very pleasant. Much smaller than my last one but nice and welcoming.
Joce how have you been today? Seen your little man?
Take care all x

Doodle Wed 05-May-21 20:31:55

Wow Annie a busy day, hope everything went ok.

Joce345 Wed 05-May-21 17:27:35

Annie how has your day gone with all your callers?
Hope you are getting there with everything, hopefully you will be better when it’s all sorted you can have a well earned rest...

Hope everyone else has had a good day..

Nonnie Wed 05-May-21 10:35:51

Scardycat lovely feeling to finally get your hair cut. Are you good at keeping it looking like you just left the salon?

Ellie Anne yes, I understand being the listener and supporter. My problem is that I always feel I should be able to help! Too much of the mum in me I suspect. I am sure that giving to others helps you cope but they might like to help you too if you feel ready to share with one of them?

So good to feel fully vaccinated.

Doodle over the years, when we have moved, we have 'shopped around' to find a church where we feel comfortable and feel we fit in. We once tried a church where we had previously belonged and discovered that everyone was exactly the same but we had changed and it no longer was right for us. I'm sure you will find one that suits.

Annie quite the 'social life', hope it is not too tiring.
