Red scaly spots

Over the past 2 months I’ve developed red spots which turn scaly on my arms and back of my calves. Also rough patches on my palms. I contacted my local health centre and sent photos as they requested. I’ve had a course of antibiotics and some hydrocortisone cream but nothing is working. Any suggestions or has anyone had the same.

It sounds like a form of eczema. I get something similar on my hands. I try to avoid putting them in water, use rubber gloves for washing dishes etc., and loads of hand cream. It usually clears up in a couple of weeks.

That being said I had a really weird rash on my hands and forearms last Spring. The spots were fluid filled, like chicken pox, and were purple/red in colour. They were really itchy and prickly to begin with, but after the itchiness calmed down the spots remained for months, the last of them on my hand just disappeared at the end of December. I'm of the belief that it was a covid skin rash, I had no other symptoms.

I had something like you describe a year ago and in the same places. on the back of my hands too. Doctor said it was Ecxema But the cream didn't cure it. I went to a private consultation and was told it was psoriasis and wanted to put me on methotrexate. I didn't agree to that.
My GP gave me a tub of Hydromol ointment which I rubbed into my skin twice a day and it cleared it up completely. I now keep my skin well moisturised

Dermatitis tends to be scaly.

Not sure what it is but I have psoriasis (which sounds similar but is itchy) and use Farmologie pink grapefruit moisturiser which isn't expensive and it's very good.
I tried it after some celebrity gave it a good recommendation.

I’ve had/have something which sounds very similar which dates from an illness over a year ago that I was convinced was chickenpox but the doctor says shingles far more likely. I had two biopsies before Christmas and they have decided that it is likely that I am suffering from an autoimmune condition that I am having medication for. Really thorough moisturising helps but doesn’t cure it. PM me if I can help anymore.

Thank you all for your advice. I’ve started to moisturise twice a day and it seems to be helping. 1 leg has cleared considerably.

I have eczema but it’s managed with Dermol lotion and the occasional use of Betnovate (hydrocortisone). However since the pandemic, it flares up at times on the backs of my hands which is probably due to the frequent use of anti bac hand gel. A small inconvenience to ensure I stay well!

I also have psoriasis but mine isn’t itchy and I have never had it on my palms.
Skin conditions are a minefield, there seem to be many variations on a theme.
I just keep my skin well moisturised and found a diet that seemed to improve it enormously.
Glad yours seems to be improving.

Pamela true. I missed that. I don't have it on palms either. It sounds more like dermatitis. What dietary changes did you make?

Could be discoid psoriasis. Try googling it and comparing your rash .
