After a shocking night's sleep, do you look a trifle vampiric come morning? wink Puffy eyes, dark rings, wan complexion? Aside from matchsticks to prop the eyelids open, what beauty products help? Do you have an under-eye concealer you swear by? Cucumber on the eyelids? A triple layer of foundation? Bronzer? What’s your go-to product for tricking the world into thinking you’ve had your full quota of shut-eye?

Another fan of Clarins Flash Balm here! Also Mac's pro longwear paint pots for blotchy eyelids. Works a treat for Zoom meetings..

I have started using the elixir product from Tropic skincare and it feels great. I think it helps with improving the look of my skin,

I am also drinking a lot mire water and cutting out most caffeine to try help.

After removing any make-up with Simple Cleansing Lotion I use a liberal amount of Boots VitE cream I have used these products for quite a while now and in the morning I can say my skin looks reasonable and wide awake.

Having tried almost every brand of skincare from high-end (almost £100 a pop) right across the spectrum, I've recently hit on the Nivea Q10 anti-wrinkle and anti-ageing range which is very affordable and really seems to make a difference. I use the night and day creams and am actually getting comments like how 'rested' I look, which I take as a compliment for implying I look a few years younger which is always a bonus!

I recently started using L'oreal Revitalift Filler regime with night and day moisturisers, replumping ampoules and eye cream. Even after a few days my skin looks so much more refreshed and I don't look so tired any more!

I tried the L'Oreal Rosy Glow but it doesn't suit me - just makes my face look shiny and a bit of a weird colour. I finished the pot by mixing it with another day cream.

I have tried the L'Oreal Revitalift filler day ad night creams and that did seem to make a nice difference to the appearance of my skin in the morning.

A good splash of cold water is what usually wakes my skin up in the morning.

Good suggestions here . Garnier restoring hemp cream fairly good & a face mask weekly also useful

eyelash curlers - makes your eyes look more awake!

Rowsie Tue 16-Mar-21 14:24:19

I am not sure anything really works. When I don't get a good nights sleep it is very evident in my face and nothing I do helps really. It proves that good sleep is really important!

L'Oreal Age Perfect Rosy Glow always makes me look brighter and fresher.

emziemay Tue 16-Mar-21 14:52:54

Definitely mascara and Clarins Flash Balm makes me look more awake!

Nanna29 Tue 16-Mar-21 15:00:48

I've just started using revitalift it doesn't make my eyes sore which most creams do

Herbie9 Tue 16-Mar-21 15:31:20

I'm a great believer in "tapping". Using your ring finger tap gently 5/8 times underneath your eyes. I then apply a Bodyshop eye concealer, finishing with a tinted moisturiser. I'm afraid with age it seems that even after a good night's sleep we can't escape from "panda eyes" but I find the above helps.

silversand12 Tue 16-Mar-21 15:55:39

I haven't found anything that works, but I shall be watching with interest cos goodness knows often my circles would put a panda to shame!

TrendyNannie6 Tue 16-Mar-21 15:57:55

Good nights sleep and mascara

NotTooOld Tue 16-Mar-21 16:19:54

Thanks for that, FannyC. I've just ordered some moisturiser from Amazon.
I also like Clarins Flash Balm but it is expensive. Has anyone found a cheaper version that is as good?

I would not face the day without a full make up, even if I do not plan to leave the house. I have been doing this all my adult life which amuses friends who never bother even if they are going out but just to walk the dog. I would not be without my eye cream though,

NannaGrandad Tue 16-Mar-21 17:06:46

Kiehls midnight recovery oil applied at bedtime does wonders for my skin.

The best beauty product ever is water!

Drink plenty of water to flush the system especially if you have overloaded your system with food or drink. Splashing the face with cold water in the morning also helps to revive and brighten.

The cheapest and most vital product on the market for sure.

Harris27 Tue 16-Mar-21 18:04:53

Rosy glow works for me too. I hate going into work with dark circles and work with bright young things who used to party all night and still look great!

Kittyme1 Tue 16-Mar-21 18:54:08

I keep a bottle of Liz Earle's Eyebright soothing eye lotion in the fridge. In the morning I pour a generous amount onto cotton wool pads and sweep them over my eyelids, then time permitting I place them over my eyes and relax for 5-10 minutes.

rozina Tue 16-Mar-21 20:04:14

The one thing that I feel everyone needs including me is a concealer. One swipe and that dark line has gone away. For years and years and years I've used Rimmel's Hide the Blemish, I use Natural Beige which is a perfect skin match. That alone will set me up for the day. Added cosmetics are a bonus like a blusher, but if you have more time to spare then Rimmel's Sunshimmer Medium shimmer (it washes off) will give anyone that sunkissed look. If you have still 1 minute to spare then any sort of rose cream blusher over the cheeks and hey presto, you're ready for anywhere. Lacura Q10 serum underneath will keep a lovely moist dewy skin.

i love poko under eye cream

Stella14 Tue 16-Mar-21 22:47:54

I use Elemis cleansing balm. It’s gloriously cleaning and moisturing. Ren products - Their eye cream, exfoliating toner, serum and night cream. Elemis Marine cream moisturiser (though it’s shockingly expensive, so when I have finished my current jar, I’ll move to Ren for day cream too). I am not diligent and don’t the whole routine, or even part of it everyday. To look better if I need to go somewhere (we used to do that didn’t we?), I swear by YSL Touche Eclait (the best concealer ever!
