Yes, small dog. She doesn't keep me awake and I've almost let my pets sleep on my bed if they want to, except for a very large rescue dog who wasn't able to climb stairs.

Does your pet sleep with you??
(136 Posts)And if so, does it help you sleep? Or do they keep you awake?
Feel free to share pics of them too!

My dog shadows me all day everywhere. He would be utterly devastated if he couldn’t be with me at night. We are a comfort to each other. He’s a rescue boy and didn’t have a very nice start in life so I want him to feel safe and loved all the time. I do understand people who do t want to sleep with their pets but I’m a softie. One of the reasons my husband says we can’t have hens...he says they’ll end up at the end of the bed every night. He’s not wrong either.

No way. Disgusting!
Absolutely!
Our dog sleeps on his own bed in our bedroom, but sometimes he sneaks up on the end of our bed during the night, especially if it's very cold. We don't mind, it's lovely to wake up to his smiling face telling us to get up.
We've always allowed our dog Barney to sleep on our bed, but wouldn't recommend.
He bed hops between our son's bed and ours, and disturbs us most nights. He is 10 years old now, and it isn't as easy for him climbing on the bed as it was when he was younger. Our son bought a special pair of steps for dogs to help him climb up. The trouble is that he refuses to use it, and expects us to lift him up.
I wouldn't allow another pet to sleep on our bed, they definitely don't help you to get a good night's sleep, quite the reverse!
Our cat sleeps in his own bed on the landing, so he keeps a watchful eye on everything. He’s also an amazing alarm clock, very reliable and persistent. Our dog sleeps on the bed, but in the dead of. Ishtar when it’s cold she works her way up the bed and curls up in my neck. She seems to need the comfort and security. Unfortunately both her and my partner snore pretty loudly.
If i can count the husband then yes, otherwise a definate no even though i don`t have pets.
Until two years ago I would have been horrified at the thought of a dog even going upstairs. Then my daughter got a - no THE- most beautiful Blenheim cavvie. He sometimes stays with us overnight so I move into the spare room and he sleeps with me. Usually cuddled up as close as he can possibly get. He snores like a train, and is so heavy once asleep that he’s difficult to shove over. And I love it. It means throws, pillow slips and duvet covers laundered more often but sooooooo worth it. To wake up to that face and big brown eyes is just magical. And if he wakes first he paws at my arm until I wake. Just love it ??
I don’t have any pet and I certainly would not let them sleep with me, I think the cat purring would keep me awake and a dog in bed with me a big No
Years ago I had a cat that liked to sleep between the quilt cover and the quilt. It never kept me awake just crept in sometime during the night.
Not currently, however my younger dog is terribly needy and I’d fear for him when/should he become a single pet. The upstairs may well become opened up at nighttime for him.
I’m sure my tortoise would, but he’s not getting the opportunity!
Yep Oscar my cat creeps in when he thinks I am asleep and curls up at the bottom of the bed. He just likes my company.
Yes. Our medium size dog starts the night on our bed, then gets into her basket by the bed. She jumps back on the bed early in the morning and likes to laze about before breakfast! Doesn’t disturb our sleep too much except when she stretches out and takes up a lot of space for a not very large dog!
Our small dog sleeps by the bed in a pet bed but sometimes jumps on our bed in the morning. She slept on the bed for a while as a puppy so we could immediately tell if she woke up and wanted to go out - it worked as husband is very light sleeper!
Absolutely not!!
I have mellowed as I age and whereas once my animals weren’t even allowed in the bedroom, this last little four legs does come onto my bed once I’ve settled down with a book. She has her own big blanket on top of my bedding ... and she stretches out along the side of one leg, snoozing peacefully until I switch my light out, at which point she returns to her own bed in the lounge till I get up and open the curtains and blinds and take her into the garden. It’s quite nice to have a warm presence snuggling up for a little while at bedtime, I have to say. She’s a very clean little thing and her bedding is always washed weekly, so despite my years of disapproval, I’m quite happy to allow her to share my bedroom ritual. Here she is ...her name is Yoko. ❤️
Yes our two little dogs sleep with us. They’re like hot water bottles in the winter!
Yes my Yorkshire terrier snuggles up close and it is so lovely. I make sure the bed is changed regularly but he is showered so much no worries really! Gives you a close bond.
No pets now but little cat used to sleep on my stomach inside the bed (I sleep on my back). Little dog slept by my side on top the covers. I sleep in a single bed so it always amused me to say to beaux at the end of an evening "sorry, you have to go now. My bed is fully occupied!
No pets on the bed, it’s unhygienic.
Occasionally my cat breaks into my bedroom but he silently lies on the carpet at the foot of the bed.
My new cat sleeps on the end of my bed most nights - only problem is that he likes to attack my feet before he goes to sleep (a habit I think he was allowed by his previous owner). He is learning no to though!
Unfortunately, after many years of getting up at 5.30am to go to work, I still wake up at that time and often get up to have a cuppa. Unfortunately, on the odd occasion that I do sleep beyond that time, he thinks that 5.30 is get up time every day so I'm woken by a loud purring and not being able to breath when he sits or lays on my ribs! One way of waking me up!!
I don't have a dog, but simply adore my 'grand-dog', . my daughter's cocker poo. She is allowed to sleep on the bed, and I love it when she spends the night with me when they come to visit. She is unbelievably snuggly and I miss seeing her as much as I do my children/grandchildren! I am longing for the dog (and my daughter obviously!) to be allowed to come and stay again! I grew up with dogs, and they always used to sneak into the bed when my mother wasn't looking. Not sure I'd fancy sharing the bed with any other animal though (surely not a fish or tortoise?!!!)
