Oh vampirequeen, I feel so sorry for you. I remember having Legionnaires disease a few years ago. I was really ill for about a month, but it took me over a year to get my strength back, and any lung infection is bound to take a toll on your energy levels. You have to be kind to yourself, gentle exercise when you can and rest when your body tells you to.
Get well soon.

Please forgive this whinge
(92 Posts)I had Covid at Christmas. It was horrible but I seemed to pick and get better. Except I haven't. I'm so tired all the time, get headaches, feel hot and cold for no reason, suffer from all sorts of aches and pains and have brain fog.
I spoke to my GP today. She's organising blood tests but it's a possibility that I've got long Covid or it's triggered my ME symptoms again.
I'm sorry this is just a whinge but I'm so fed up.
Sorry to hear you are feeling so exhausted and down. Kate Garraway was on the One Show on Thursday and the interview (about ten minutes in on iPlayer) was very insightful. She has written a book which includes expert advice on ways to cope with long COVID.
I found myself tearing up the other day over something so trivial that I can’t even remember what it was.
A friend with Long Covid saw a specialist, who seemed unclear if her dose of Covid had resulted in ME.
I'm sure you're massively fed up at the thught of more ME. I hope you feel better really soon.
Sympathies
Have you been able to have the vaccine? The first dose seems to have sorted out some of my long Covid symptoms!
So sorry to hear you are suffering post covid and are afraid your ME has been retriggered. I understand because I am a fellow MEer. Worst fear. For the benefit of other grans and as another MEer said above ME is a post viral condition which has been ignored and misunderstood for a long time. Though it is horrible to see the surge of post viral illness following covid, it does give hope for more understanding and support for people who experience this. What can I say? Keep hopeful. It is easy to fall into fearing the worst. You will know to rest and pace. It sounds as if your ME got better once, so your body has the capacity to get on top of it and heal. It is still early days for post covid sufferers and time is helping a lot of people. I know it is not easy. I fully understand about the days when we just have to give in to misery but then we pick ourselves up and soldier on. As you are doing. People here want to be helpful and offer suggestions that might help. But really we just have to be patient. Big hugs and best wishes and good luck.
Haven't symptoms of Long Covid been described as similar to ME. Do hope your GP chases up on anything that can help you feel bette. If anyone is allowed a whinge you are.
You have every right to whingeVQ take care rest and spoil yourself?
All or nothing
Oh bless you, vampirequeen. I do hope that things start to improve for you. It's normal to want to express how you are feeling, and here is as good a place as any to do it, as there are an army of supportive posters out there. With luck, the blood tests will reveal a way forward, but in the meantime, lots of rest, snooze if you feel the need to, try to get a little fresh air and simple, gentle, exercise (don't push yourself) and as another poster advised, plenty of fruit, veg and protein. Take care and come back whenever you feel the need. ?
Aww Vq I hope you get back to your old self very soon. Our long, boring Covid filled winter hasn't helped us at all, but Spring has sprung at last and it might help us get out of the doldrums. Big hugs & get well soon
When I was still working a colleague had what was termed then ‘post viral fatigue syndrome’. It took a while for her to recover but she did so I hope you are feeling better soon.
Vampire Queen my daughter is struggling with long covid. She had it at the end of October. It has left her with ectopic heartbeats, palpitations and terrible fatigue, so I know exactly how you feel.
No, it obviously didn't. Sorry.
Witzend
There is an article in New Scientist 13/3/21 which says, in essence, that an informal survey found that 32% of people with Long Covid felt better after 1st vaccination dose.
I have taken a photo of the article and will try to attach it! Don't know whether it will work.
So sorry to hear you're going thru it at the moment
Oh I do hope you feel better soon. It's not only possibly due to the Covid, being locked down doesn't help.
But you're right to get checked out by the doctor. I've heard that people do feel pretty wiped out after they've had it.
Good luck and read some good books till you can go to the park. Karen
I'm a GP and we are starting to see more of this. It's really awful for all concerned. I feel so sad that I am unable to help these poor people. Of course, they get frustrated at our inability to help and I have been sworn at and told I don't care.
That is so not true!
I hope that " science " will come to our rescue again very soon on this one .
Sending love to all of you suffering and praying you all improve soon xxxx
Whinge away Vq.
We all need to sometimes.
And i hope you start feeling better very soon.
Hope you feel better soon VQ. ?
Thanks everyone. I'm a bit less whingey today. Yesterday was just a perfect storm. Every symptom kicked in and Morrisons was the final straw.
Feel free to winge! So sorry you’re not feeling well - hope you feel better soon
VQ, your symptoms sound like my niece's experience of long covid. She had the virus last summer and still has fatigue and a fluctuating temperature, sometimes almost 40 degrees. This isn't easy with three children of primary school ages. She has had a battery of tests which have shown that her heart and lungs are unaffected but is still being monitored. VQ, I'm sure I have heard that specialist clinics are being set up around the country for the sufferers from the after-effects of this still only partly understood virus and I hope you can benefit from the kind of attention paid to my niece.
I just want to add my good wishes too.
I had Covid mildly in July (I was only tested as the Zoe people thought my symptoms could be Covid and offered me a test. I was amazed to prove positive as I had 'only' a rotten headache, sore throat, slight rash on tummy and lethargy; I just needed to sleep 23 hours of the day) and the brain fog following on from the lethargy was quite something.
All I say is this will pass and not to rush to be better. I was helped by the fact that ironically because of Covid, I rarely needed to have a deadline for anything so could slowly recover, which you will, at my own pace.
Take every day one at a time, don't plan anything, else you may be disappointed if you are not up to participating and treat yourself gently. I would suggest upping your intake of fruit and vegetables to ensure your body has the best intake of vitamins but other than that, there is not much that you can do.
This will pass but there are no textbooks so no-on can try to predict the duration of your recovery. One day at a time, you will recover.
PS
We fight Morrison's ordering system - I can't comment on the online systems of other supermarkets but my goodness, this one is not user friendly! You not completing your order was probably not brain fog but their daft check out process!
Hope you do feel better soon
Oh please feel free to whinge! I can absolutely understand that the Morrison debacle made you cry. Covid is a dreadful bug and you may take a while to get back on top - but you will get there.
