Your right NotSpaghetti from all that I've read it isnt sand!

I'm just trying to keep an open mind, whilst not getting drawn into any hype.

It is fantastic to get rid of any ants in the house as it is completely safe around pets and children.

Just use a mask when using it.

I know some people use it as a natural remedy to keep
fleas at bay,by brushing it thru dogs coats. I haven't been brave enough to try it though.

It is NOT sand btw

I don't know to be honest. He is in a constant battle with his skin though.

I've used it to deter ants, deal with soil pests etc etc for 40 years.

So far then, only Notspagetti SIL has any experience of taking it for health reasons?

Having read the heading, I simply had to Google this stuff! It sounds remarkably like sand! I see that it was also used by Alfred Nobel in the manufacture of dynamite in which case, my late father would have known all about it!

People do, apparently, choose to consume the stuff - see recipes here

Gives another dimension to having to eat a peck of dust before you die.

Trisha57 Thu 20-May-21 09:38:21

The only thing I have used this for is dusting my chickens' feathers to stop them getting mites! Is it the same stuff?

geekesse Thu 20-May-21 09:26:33

It has no proven benefits and can damage your lungs: www.healthline.com/nutrition/what-is-diatomaceous-earth#bottom-line

I’d suggest that a picnic on a beach when the wind is blowing would be a cheaper way to add sand to your diet grin

Yes I've just started to use it in the garden too NotSpaghettismile

The Food Grade one is actually in some foods already.

Do you know (and are happy saying) what your SIL takes it for?

NotSpaghetti Thu 20-May-21 00:47:52

My son-in-law. I only use in the garden!

Namsnanny Thu 20-May-21 00:47:05

Has anyone any experience of taking this?
