Advice re Recovery post cataract surgery

My dh had a second cataract procedure 8 days ago and has still not recovered and his eye is still very uncomfortable and sore. He us on painkillers and can’t really do much. His recovery from his first cataract was also not without problem but it was a while ago so we can’t remember if it went on for as long as this.
We have spoken to the hospital who say it can take time, so we have to be patient.
We are always led to believe it is quick and easy with almost instant clarity. I suppose we are looking for reassurance as no one we know has had this problem. Is there anyone in gransnetland with similar experience?

I had first cataract op on 26th January then second one on 26th April. They were a bit uncomfortable for the first few days so took Paracetamol. Was on eye drops regime for both which helped. I've now got two 'bionic' eyes so well worth it. Within six weeks I will be able to have eyes tested and be able to get new reading glasses.

Thanks rascal, am glad it has all
gone so well. Maybe we are just impatient to go out and about now we can and he doesn’t seem to be getting much better.

Wishing your husband the best recovery, patience is key - and absolutely no lifting or driving until signed off.

I had a squint op as a kid in the 60's which involved surgery and remember cycling gaily around Moorfields Eye Hospital on the horse - it was a completely different kettle of fish when I had it done again at 36! I was on the sofa for weeks. Any eye op is a major trauma, and being older, we don't heal as quickly and easily. I hope you can fill your time with pleasant things whilst he recovers.
